Oops, I meant to add the "rain-barrel" effect. A histamine response often builds up over days or hours from what I've read. A bunch of small exposures will be no problem, until one meal - and wham, you find your nose running, maybe some itching, followed by D (maybe in several hours). It's hard to pinpoint the culprit food. It is not always just one low-histamine food. It is the amount, timing, presence of other factors, and the food(s!) all together. An elimination of all low-histamine foods, is not possible, unless you have sophisticated testing equipment, because histamines are being produced by the minute in unique amounts for each food, is a lofty goal - but as I said, not possible. Just work to keep your rain-barrel of histamines at a low-threshold over time. Occasionally you'll overflow, but just be as diligent as possible by keeping amounts low, and food fresh.

I agree with Chris about trying the antihistamine just to see if it helps. If it does, then you can consider what you want to do.I totally understand not wanting to take pills. I'm a personal; trainer/nutrition specialist and have always prided myself on my healthful eating habits and not taking anything but what I have to for thyroid and such. This dx. changed the way I think of food. I can no longer eat much fruit ( and all the antioxidants that they give you) at all :( I miss it, but feeling good is more important. Because stress can be such a trigger for symptoms, I "gave myself permission" to not only take what I need to to feel better, but to also stop stressing over every BM! I no longer think too hard about a too soft one or if I have two in one day…..as long as it doesn't go on for too long. Then I have to re-examine what I am eating again.

After you try the Allegra ( or whichever you choose) and get your answer, then you will have the task of figuring out how much is too much. I found that I can eat left over rice and/or vegetables fine…. but meat can be a problem if over 24 hours old. I do eat mushrooms and avocados ( I love guacamole with tortilla chips) . Also, if I happen to be having seasonal allergies, I have to be more careful. It's a learning process.
Lately, I have tried adding magnesium lotion to my regimen. Gabes has been very helpful with that info. Most of us are low on this mineral, but find it hard to take because it can bring on D. So, I ordered a lotion and have been using it for maybe 1 1/2 weeks now. I noticed a difference in my BMs within about 4 days! All solid since.! I may be able to back off some of the antihistamines soon :) Even after all this time, I am still working on the perfect balance.

I have crazy low blood pressure. It's never higher than 100/60, and my norm is usually 90/50. When I have flares of D and get low on fluids and electrolytes, it's gotten as as low as 84/44. I get fatigued and dizzy, but I never faint. I was recently part of a research study at NIH, and they confirmed I have "dysautonomia." I also had sinus bradycardia - slow heart rate. My BP goes up 10 points when I'm laying down, but I don't have all the symptoms of POTS.
I have lost weight due to my restricted diet, but it's been gradual. Getting used to a size 0 wardrobe is weird! I get joint and muscle pains if I get accidentally glutened, which triggers my myositis. But I'm doing extremely well now taking Low Dose naltrexone and maintaining a mostly Paleo diet.

I too was having 80 something/ 40 something BP but since NP Thyroid it is much better. Maybe you should get your T3 and T4 checked??? And also cortisol levels with saliva test. I am going to have my aldosterone checked this next time. Low aldosterone and low BP and low cortisol and low BP can all go hand in hand.
