Happy New Year, Barb and Liz!

Sure was quiet around here at midnight with the fire precautions in effect due to the dryness.

Heard some distant, official sounding fireworks about 11 PM, and then a few isolated ones that I'm not too sure where they were coming from about 1 AM.

Perhaps even the professional displays weren't allowed this year, unless that was what I heard at 11 PM, but if they were professional ones, they were MUCH shorter than they usuallly are, that's for sure!

Surprised I didn't hear/see anything on the local news about that, but then sometimes miss things. Perhaps they'll be reports about the adherence to the fireworks ban tomorrow on the news. Doesn't bother me at all not to hear those, but it IS strange.

Wow, too sleepy.
Yours, Luce

Happy New Year to all. :festive:

In the South of Spain, the day has started with a bride sun and some isolated clouds in the sky. I am sure we have around 14 degrees Celsius. It is 12.51 am, people are walking in groups, cars are circulating,... Even though everything seems to be the same, another year has started.

My best wishes to all the potty people and families. I really hope 2006 becomes the best year, with full health, love and peace.

We watched the ball drop here too, last night. I too have been watching that for so many years as well. We went to my SIL's niece's place to celebrate with their gang. It was a quiet evening with a few laughs. We watched the video movie of their they had in Jamaica in November, and looked at all the wedding photo's. They are going on their real honeymoon in two weeks. I don't know if you would call it a honeymoon when they got married, as it was spent with about 20 others. So they are going island hopping, staying on four of the Islands while there. Oh how nice that would be???? sigh.

We did not end up with a white Christmas, we ended up with a very rainy one. It finally snowed last night though. Just a couple of inches, but it does look pretty.

It was such a late evening though, I did not fall asleep for sometime after getting home, not ill about 4am, and that just totally screw's me the following day. It is always nice to be with family though.

My SIL doesn't drink much at all, same as me and my brother, so while we were at IKEA yesterday I picked up alcohol free Champagne. I ended up drinking that as well as the others who don't always react well to alcohol, but that is not the thing that she should never have. After dinner we all had a coffee with caffiene, as we wanted to stay awake and alert for the evening. But she totally didn't think about the caffiene at the time. But her body reacts to it, and she can't wind down. Its like she goes from 0 to a 100 miles an hour a short time after injesting it. Well, this time her nephew through marriage video taped it. We never laughed so hard. In the background you can hear me telling my brother that no, for sure the champagne I gave her had no alcohol, then their was the realization and then you could hear me saying, Oh my God, now I know what it is, she had a coffee. And then someone else says AND she had some chocolate too. Meanwhile she is doing her rendition of " I FEEL GOOD". As well as some pretty good dance moves. To say the least, it was pretty funny.

Anyways, Happy New Year to you and yours, may this next year bring you much happiness and joy.

Gentle hugs
Wendy

Happy New year to you all....I went to bed at 10:30 pm...none home but me and 5 dogs. One of which howled off and on News eve and the night before. Missed her mummy....I had to get up and take a paper out in the living room (she was in her mummy's chair, where she slept the whole time) and show it to her and slap my hand with it to get her to shut up...everytime she'd howl...the othe four dogs sleeping with me would pop up their little heads and jump 5 feet. Finally the little dear stopped. It was quiet at my house. Love Oma
