Terri
the info about mag testing is in the posts - there is no cost effective non invasive accurate magnesium test. other than, listening to your body!
as symptoms improve, you will need less.

also within the info of those posts is a guide on how much.
long story short
the RDI is quite low
to correct a deficiency takes 500-800mg
if you have illness/conditions and have ongoing stress, very likely you will take 500-800mg ongoing.

Terri
the CoQ10 i use is produced in Europe, i am not sure if this brand is available in the USA
http://www.bioceuticals.com.au/product/ ... gual-150mg

If soy is an issue for you, double and triple check ingredients as 80% of CoQ10 products have soy

there are a few forms of CoQ10.
Ubiquinol is absorbed faster,
Ubidecarenone is older and form in the lingual versions

If soy is not an issue for you, there are loads of products available online. (iHerb had quite a few options)

I am taking 300mg per day of CoQ10.

I was infuriated years ago when I was sent to a rheumatologist because my GI didn't know what to do with me. I went because I didn't know what else to do knowing it would be a waste of time and money. This was before I found the wealth of information here that has literally saved my life. I complained of being sensitive to touch- body wide with extreme sensitivity on my limbs. So bad that I would pull away from my husband if he touched me (poor guy). It felt like pressing on a bruise. It just plain hurt. I was achey, had headaches, and the list went on including all my stomach aches related to the foods I was eating. Labs came back great- no lupus or nothing out of the ordinary. My dx was fibromyalgia. I was offered more drugs and told I needed more sleep. I walked away and never went back.

I can understand I was a horrible case to have because so many complaints and layers of issue but it sure would have been nice to have someone take the time to figure it out instead of throwing more drugs at me. Although, that's what they are taught to do and since they don't know food causes issues.....I answered my own question.

Deb,
to be fair it is not totally the doctor/specialists fault, they are following the guidelines of the medical system that pays them.

Also, there is no affordable/reliable test for magnesium deficiency. Keep in mind, it is only in the past 4-5 years that Vit D3 testing started to be used periodically rather than only when patient has symptoms of deficiency.

hope you are on the improve and increasing wellness.

Gabes- that is true. One of my doctors flat out told me the same thing but not in a nice way. They are taught to give medications so if I was so resistant to taking them why do I keep coming into their office..... I've been shuffled around to so many doctors and no one has really taken an interest so I have a very dim opinion about most of them and the medical system. Not all doctors are bad and I'm sure there are many compassionate ones out there. My recent experience having my the PA to my GI approve EnteroLab testing for my son is a good sign that changes are happening. Wish I knew how to hurry it along some.

Progress is slow but it is progress so I will gladly take it. Sounds like you've settled in from your move and and doing well. Best wishes for the both of us.
