I never should of got this surgery. Help!
Ok, so a little background story... I got my tubes tied this past Thursday the 17th. They gave me Tylenol 3 with Codeine for pain management. I went home same day and slept most of the day. Turns out that medicine makes me sick to my stomach so I stopped taking it.
Friday night I woke up in so much pain that I was crying - called the Dr on call, they said they can't prescribed any other pain meds over the phone, that if I was in that much pain I should go to the ER. I didn't go. Made it through the day Friday but on Saturday I was in a lot of pain and feeling dizzy so my mom took me to the ER. They said I was dehydrated so they gave me an IV of fluids. And a new pain medicine of Hydrocodone. They also said I had a mild UTI and wanted to give me antibiotics, I said no because I have a history of SEVERE C-Diff (most likely the cause of my MC). Went home and was feeling better on Sunday except I was having sever lower abdominal cramping, nothing like my original surgery pain. The cramping continues on til today so I made an appointment with my regular Doctor because I wanted to check up on the UTI. They took a urine sample and it turns out that there is Enterococcal in my urine and this is the cause of my UTI. Apparently this is in there because of my surgery, it happens when bacteria from the colon comes into contact with the bladder. My doctor said this doesn't typically happen unless there is a catheter used and to my knowledge there wasn't. After reading some on the Enterococcal I am freaking out because apparently its very serious and hard to get rid of. My doctor prescribed the antibiotic Macrobid to start out trying to cure the infection. She prescribed this because unlike most antibiotics it doesn't kill the bacteria, it only prevents it from growing - this is again due to my horrible horrible bout of C-Diff about a year and a half ago. I have also read that people have had awful experiences with the Macrobid as well, bad side effects I should say.
So my questions are does anyone know anything about Macrobid and its effects on us with MC?
Is it AT ALL possible to not take the antibiotic and get better from the UTI? (I'd like to note with this that I do not feel as though I have a UTI... no burning, no blood in my urine, no painful urination... only the on and off cramping. I am urinating very easily and it is clear as I am keeping up on my water intake).
Also I just had my third bowel movement since my surgery date on Thursday, this however is my second bout of D and sorry for the TMI it is yellow for the second time which has me panicking because that was the color of my stool when I had my C-Diff. I just cannot handle c-diff again, I start a new job in the morning and am literally freaking out.
Anyone who has ANY information I would appreciate it so much, I am holding out on this antibiotic until I get some answers on here. Please and thank you

With urine tests for bacteria, it's not uncommon for a sample to be contaminated from an external source, causing a false-positive result. But you are sort of between a rock and a hard place, if the test result is correct. If I were in that situation I believe that I would either request a retest (immediately) or start the treatment, because an uncomplicated UTI is much easier to treat than one that becomes complicated.
That said, there is one other option. Enterococcus faecalis bacteria apparently adhere to D-mannose better than they cling to bladder walls. Therefore, D-mannose can be used to purge them from the bladder. D-mannose is commonly used to treat and prevent UTIs, as an alternative to antibiotics.
Therefore, if you are sure that the symptoms do not seem severe, the D-mannose might be worth a try. It typically gives very good results. It will definitely not cause an MC reaction. Your pharmacist should be able to answer any questions you might have about it.
Good luck, and keep us updated.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I have had great success stopping mild UTIs with D-Mannose. I took lots of Macrobid when I was younger with no apparent side effects, although I later read it might trigger autoimmune liver issues, I think? Probably still safer than all the alternatives.

Thank you for the quick responses everyone. Per Tex's and Zizzle's advice I have purchased D-Mannose from my local vitamin store. I have taken two doses so far and am crossing my fingers. I did start the Macrobid last night because I do not want the infection to get out of control. I have had two bouts of D today and am still fearing I may have C-Diff. I plan to call my Doctor tomorrow to request the equipment to collect a stool sample for a C-Diff test. And to top it off the job that I was supposed to start today... well I went in to start it, worked two hours only to be told they would not be hiring me. EVEN THOUGH I was promised the job. Now I am unemployed. I have no idea how we are going to makes end meet. This day has just been the worst possible thing that has happened to me. I am at a loss and ready to have a break down

I am sure you feel overwhelmed and the weeks events are totally shi**y.
I too am unemployed (have been for 6 months) and am struggling to have enough funds for the supps I need to get better. I have started selling possessions online to have enough money for supplements.
Albeit, I have come to a reasonable level of unconditional acceptance that right now, not working at the moment is helping, my body needs this time to get better. I have to trust the flow of life.
