Epic bars - opinions, please!
My husband is currently deployed and is going to want to go somewhere when he returns home. I have not traveled since my diagnosis in 9/13. I'm thinking that we might go to Disney, which of course now has me thinking of what I will eat while we're there. I googled gf food in Disney for which there are many options. However, with all of my limitations it's not going to be easy. I realize that we're all different and should try to keep what we're eating to three ingredients, but as I was googling I came across Epic bars. The ingredients in the bison bars are: bison, uncured bacon (no nitrates, pork, water, brown sugar, salt) vinegar, celery powder, sea salt, dried cranberries, apple juice concentrate, lactic acid (not from milk), and more celery powder. Would you take a chance with these bars? They're also expensive so I would hate to buy an entire box and not be able to eat them! Thanks for your input! I so don't want to ruin our vacation after he has been away for 7 months!

you might find a suitable protein powder that will be cheaper and have less ingredients
I use a rice protein powder, mix it with rice milk/coconut water
The rice milk and coconut water come in long life cartons so are easy to travel with.

Hmm, that's a good idea, Gabes. I really can do without the ice cream as long as I'm able to eat to give me the energy to do Disney. It is not a relaxing vacation! I live in a small town and don't have a Whole Foods, Ukulele. I'm not sure where I would be able to just buy one to try it but I will look around. Have a great day, ladies. It's going to be a beautiful day in PA.
Marcia, I've been very impressed with Disney World's handling of gluten free. The last time we were there we went to the Crystal Palace buffet https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dinin ... al-palace/ The chef took me through the buffet line and explained everything I could eat and then brought me out GF bread and dessert. Deb
Thanks, Deb. I have to avoid a host of things other than gluten but I will certainly check that out. I did read that if you notify them 10 days in advance they will prepare food that I can eat. We have always been spontaneous while at Disney but we will just have to plan for dinner in advance this time.
