Bromelain
In accordance with Gabes suggestion for a natural resource to help with my thrombophlebitis, I bought bromelain and started taking it last week. I am glad to say that my thrombophlebitis is almost gone. A six-week or longer process taken down to a couple of weeks.
In addition, something has changed in my gut. I can't attribute this entirely to the bromelain as the MD gave me Flonase this week for my plugged ear (going on two weeks now), and I have been eating pretty close to a strict AIP diet. But I am down to going once a day and I see much less undigested food. I think a lot of the credit has to go to the bromelain.
Thanks, Gabes!

Wonderful Awesome news!!
Wow - we are decoding the messages from the body!!
and more Wow - In a week! The body letting you know that is what it wanted. It confirms things for us!!
This proves my other pondering about inflammation - it has various root causes, therefore it has various fixes.
Decode the message (location/origin and type of inflammation) fix the deficiency linked to that, and we are on our way to wellness!
this pondering is linked to the vast/broad experiences of the members of this board why some do really well with L-Glutamine, some do well with Pro-biotics, or why L Glutamine works now, when it didnt work so well 1 year ago.
the same with the various medications...and all the diversified results at the varied stages of the MC/Wellness Journey.
Part of the thanks gets shared to Joe. He gifted me money to buy a DVD, I spent the money on this Nutrient Bible Textbook!

Thanks Marliss and Gabes for the information regarding thrombophlebitis. My one setback after getting out of the hospital is the development of thrombophlebitis in my right arms cephalic vein. It runs from just below the shoulder to just above the wrist and has been quite painful. What dose of bromelain did you use Marliss??
The Flonase is a fairly strong corticoseroid and would tend to help with inflammation in other parts of the body. The systemic dose would be pretty low.

From the nutrient bible:
150-1600mg /day or
10-20mg/kg body wt
(the 20mg per Kg would be the max, dont go above this)
Can increase heart rate
Drug Nutrient Interactions: Warfarin, bromelain promotes its action
Bromelain increases the absorption of most antibiotics eg tetracycline
Synergistic Nutrients
Bioflavonoids, Vit C, Vit E, cysteine, glucosamine, magnesium, pancreatic enzymes, quercetin, rutin, trypsin
(your current high doses of Vit C will assist synergy of the bromelain...)

Thanks Gabes...I was just on Warfarin and you have to be very careful with that med as too much effectiveness can = a stroke. I am now taking Arixtra and the issues are the clot in the right arm cephalic vein and of course the new stent in my SVC that will take a while to heal, this may help that process. I will check to see if Arixtra is an issue with this supplement.
Thanks for the info Gabes, this could very well speed up the recovery process.

Joe, I bought Doctor's Best 3000 Gdu Bromelain, 90-Count
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SD ... UTF8&psc=1
I read that you don't have to have enteric-coated if you take it on an empty stomach. If you don't take it on an empty stomach it helps to digest your food. I also read that it is good to have the number of GDUs or (I think) MDUs listed with the milligrams so you know what the activity is. I think these are 500mg capsules.
I take two a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It upsets my stomach a little, which is one of the listed side effects.
Bromelain also helps with sinusitis, so I am hoping between the bromelain and the inhaled Flonase that I will get my hearing back in my left ear one of these days...

The Nutrient Bible
Henry Osiecki
9th Edition
(Bio Concepts - Australian based publisher - Only practitioners can buy direct from the site.)
My dear friend Maria, naturopath was trained by Henry and has his 1st edition textbook. Over the years she has copied pages for me. Rather than keep bugging her I decided to get my own copy. This 9th Edition version is far far more comprehensive. Has fantastic information about interactions, cell structure etc etc. (most of which i dont understand!)
It has comprehensive information for every Vitamin, Mineral, Enzyme, Polyphenols etc
It has a 40 page listing of conditions/illness/symptom and what key nutrients for that specific disease/symptom
20 pages on nutrient modulators of regulatory pathways and molecular targets of carcinogensis, metastasis, and hypertension.
Henry Osiecki has been an internationally recognised leader in the nutritional medicine field for over 25 years
He is a lecturer for Naturopaths and Nutritionists who train in Qld Australia
He graduated from Uni of Qld in 1973 - Bachelor of Science (with honours)
1976 post Grad in Nutrition and Dietetics from QUT
His company Bio Concepts make practitioner only nutritional formulas in the brand Orthoplex (this is the mag powder brand i use)
I did a quick search, it is on Amazon USA for $70
In Aus it is online for $45 http://www.holisticpage.com.au/the-nutr ... 1875239542
checked international postage rates for this weight, it would be $35 for postage, so $70 from Amazon USA is a good deal.
As it is a textbook I dont think you will get it much cheaper anywhere else

It is a fantastic textbook resource for 'back to basics' type nutrition.
and as we have been discussing, decoding the messages from the body.
For me; having this book, doing my own research/sourcing for products, I have saved about $200-300 in fees to pay a practitioner to figure it out
