Dr. Deb's EnterolLab Results

Post by drdebc »

I saw a page on the site with a list of member’s results. I can’t find it so I am posting here.

Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 67 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-casein
(cow’s milk) IgA 14 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-ovalbumin
(chicken egg) IgA 13 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-soy IgA 10 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Mean Value 11 7 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)
Antigenic Foods

Grains toward which you displayed the most immunologic reactivity: Oat

I am glad to know my food sensitivities. However, this new knowledge is turning my life upside down. Breakfast has always been low-fat Daisy cottage cheese. Salads have included shredded eggs. Lunch has been celery or gluten free crackers with plain hummus. Now I have discovered the hummus contains soy oil and the non gluten crackers have Tamari soy sauce)
On occasion, I have poached eggs. Dinner is a protein, green veggies and rice or red potatoes.

I cook with plain almond milk. I will have to find a substitution for eggs in recipes. I don’t purposely consume oats.

It is extremely annoying to discover that soy is in EVERYTHING. I guess hummus will now also have to be prepared from scratch.

It is too bad that I stock piled (on sale) gluten free crackers, low fat cottage cheese and hummus.

I was disappointed that I could not locate the link in order to compare my results to those of other members.

I am grateful that I showed no significant immunological reactivity to the 11 Antigenic foods. I crave protein-nuts, seafood when I am sick.

I shall explore Polly’s recipes. My Primary MD has referred me to the Nutritionist. We cook and rarely dine out.

I ordered the kit from Enterolab yesterday. I'm very curious to see what comes back as we've eliminated a lot over the years without any results. It's obvious we're missing something important.

Good luck for the cooking. It's an adjustment for sure but, when it brings results, it will all be so worth it! ♥

Deb,

You can find other people's results here:

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=56

You will discover that you are not alone. After the shock wears off I am sure you will adjust. At least the 11 foods were not problematic.

Hi Maryse

Post by drdebc »

What is frustrating to me is that I had finally set up a plan that I thought was working. Now I will have to change breakfast and lunch. I am drinking a V8 for breakfast.

EnteroLab received my kit on 7-22 and I received the results on 8-6. Good luck with your results.

Deb,

Other members have found that plantains make a very good substitute for eggs in recipes. Check Cindy's post in this thread, for example:

GF Bread Mix

Here's another thread related to cooking with plantains:

Paging Lesley and all Cooks/Bakers - re green plantains

Thank you for sharing your test results.

Unfortunately, we don't have plantains available very often in this tiny town. I did find an egg replacement list on the forum recipes. I am making a meatloaf for dinner. I will use 1 TBS ground flax seed simmered in 3 TBS water.
Thanks again,
Deb

Bananas can also be used as an egg replacement, Deb. Applesauce will also work, depends on recipe.

That is good to know. I don't eat many sweets. An exception is Lesley's "ice cream."

I also found that soy is in everything and is harder to avoid. I keep the single serve containers of applesauce in the cupboard. Each is 1/2 cup and will replace 2 eggs in most baked things. Works great in the breadmaker with the gluten free bread mix.

That is a great idea, re: the applesauce singles.

I used flaxseed meal and water (simmered it) in my meatloaf, last night. It was great. I made it from grain fed organic ground beef, ground organic pork, onions, red pepper, Trocamari for seasoning and a little beef broth. Everyone loved it.

Trocomare

Post by drdebc »

Hi Donna,
Trocomare is fine sea salt infused with organic fresh herbs and vegetables. Ingredients: sea salt, celery, leek, cress, onion, chives, parsley, red pepper, garlic, horseradish, basil, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, kelp. It contains no MSG, gluten, Lactose, or preservatives. It is made by A. Vogel. I get it at my local herb store $8.00 for 8,8 oz shaker container. I heard that some Costco stores sell it. It adds flavor to everything I cook.
