Trip Success
Just wanted to report going on a short 3 day trip with my 19 yo granddaughter to Fredericksburg, TX.
We had a great time and all went well even with eating out 3 meals each day. We spent one full day shopping the town on their 'walking tour' in the Texas heat. I was amazed that my energy held out. I did feel a little insecure because every store had a big sign saying 'no public restroom'. I was OK tho.
Denny's Grand Slam has always been a favorite of mine. Had a 'build your own slam' each morning with ham, bacon, hashbrowns & grits (never been a big fan of grits, but it was OK).
I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to enjoy this trip without relapse of digestive issues....not even fatigue, fibro or OA issues.
I truly have my life back thanks to all of you.

Theresa,
Great!
Were you ever lucky enough to visit Fredericksburg back before it became a tourist attraction/satellite of Austin and San Antionio? Back when it was an "undiscovered" sleepy little Hill Country town, it was an awesome place to visit. No one ever locked any doors, not the doors to their homes, nor the doors of their cars, and crime was something that happened in the big cities, not in Hill Country towns. Whether they knew you or not, everyone treated you as a neighbor/friend, and everyone you passed on the street smiled and either nodded or spoke a greeting. I'm talking 50 years ago or so.
I can remember going to one of the bakeries whenever we happened to be passing through town, to pick up a few loaves of the most delicious bread in the world. You could smell the bakeries before you even got close, and it's one of the most lasting memories from my younger days. I haven't been back to visit in over 20 years, and I'm sure I would be lost there now. I sure miss those days before Fredericksburg became popular.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex,
The smell of the bakeries almost did me in
The people were still very friendly, with the underlying current of knowing tourism is their livelihood. I had never been there before, enjoyed it and wished I had more time to stay. The WWII in the Pacific museum is awesome and worth the trip by itself (well for us Texans anyway). It's about 5 hours from where I live.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
Jean, I am always up early and raring to go. I start with coffee, email and newsgroups. If I take a break later in the day I may get back here, but I am usually so busy I just don't make it.
