Use Almond Flour?

Post by Whiplash »

I have looked through quite a few recipes here but haven't found any that use almond flour. Is almond flour OK to use when you have colitis?

It should be fine, as long as you tolerate it. Some people don't do well with a lot of nuts (or even have an intolerance to certain kinds of nuts), but it's kind of an individual thing.

Did you try clicking on the Search The Archives of This Discussion Board link toward the top of this forum, and doing a search for almond flour. If you limit the search to the Dee's Kitchen forum, the hits will all be recipes that use almond flour. I had 30 hits when I tried it.

The Paleo Muffins recipe for example, is a favorite among many members here.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Welcome !!

A lot of the the Palao and gluten free recipes on the net use almond flour,
Put 'paleo almond recipe' into a google search and I am sure you will get quite a few results.

My advice now that you are in MC world, buy small amount of any ingredient, cook half batch of any recipe until you confirm if that ingredient / ingredients settles well for you

A lot of recipes call for almond flour. I tried it some time ago and wow, did my stomach hurt. I haven't touched it since. It was very expensive, I wish I would have been able to buy an even smaller bag.

I use almond flour without any problem. It really does depend on what your body accepts or rejects.

The paleo muffins in our recipe section are good. Also google Elena Amsterdam. She has a lot of almond flour recipes. :ChefStirringPot:

I think something to keep in mind is the amount of almonds in almond flour. While many can tolerate a "few" almonds, a cup of almond flour has a "lot" of almonds. I think it's a good idea to proceed slowly and see how you do. I, personally, can tolerate the flour. Deb
