Diet New Years resolution

Post by Mars »

OK, here goes..............

Although the holidays were wonderful, the pictures (of me) were NOT!!! I am committed to starting a diet on Saturday (this Saturday)!

I am not GF but am very aware of what foods trigger the D. I have chosen the South Beach Diet for a number of reasons. The book/diet is written by a cardiologist and he teaches the good and bad foods and how this diet will help with your health. I am going to give this a try and am DETERMINED to make it work.

I am asking for assistance in this though - I might call on all of you when I have that awful craving that just will NOT go away. There are also 3 others starting with me. And.....since my husband has less willpower than I do, he will benefit from the new style of cooking and grocery shopping also!

I bought the book tonight and will need to read and compile a grocery list. Thus the waiting until Saturday. I also like the fact that you are not given a menu you must stick with. You are given a list of foods that are ok and not ok during each of the 3 phases of the diet.

I am DETERMINED to do this everyone! I have absolutely NO willpower but will make it through this. I WAS going to try to quit smoking but decided I didn't want to commit suicide or murder! One thing at a time.

I have been researching many of the diets and found this one should help me learn to eat healthy, reduce my BP and Cholesterol, etc.

Wish me luck!

Love and a healthy NEW YEAR everyone!!!!

PS: I also have a wedding to go to in June and would like to NOT have to buy the dress in the size I had to try on last week!!!!!! UGGGGGGGG

That's an ambitious plan, but I have no doubt you can do it. You seem to be very determined.

I hope that the plan works for you, and allows you to accomplish everything that you expect of it. Anytime we can help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask. Best of luck, and always remember, we're behind you 100%.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Mars,

One of the ladies I work with just got that book and is determined to do the same as you. She has a friend who has lost a fair bit of weight on it already. I don't know anything about the diet, but I wish you all the best. I think you're very smart not to try and quit smoking at the same time. One hurdle at a time.

Mars,

My good friend has been on the same diet for about 4 months and has lost over 50 lbs. She really likes it, as diets go. The funny thing is that when she added carbohydrates back in, she had a severe reaction to wheat, and has decided to go gluten free... Please don't think I'm preaching!!!

Good luck on the diet. It does seem one that's not too hard to follow. Ask for help, we're here for you and know the struggles.

Love, Jean
