Restaurant Experience

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Okay, I just gotta tell you guys about this. Geoff took me out for dinner tonight. We were going to go to the Country Creamy, but there were lots of cars there, including a gaggle of PROM kids! Can you imagine going to the local burger bar/ice cream place with nothing but outside picknik tables in your prom dress? So anyway, we decided to not go there, but try this Italian joint that opened in the last 6 months or so. I was hoping they'd have risotto, but figuring I'd have to settle for salad.

Now mind you, the building they are in used to be the sleeziest bar around. Well, we go in and its totally different from its bar days. Nice tables with linen tablecloths and napkins, lots of knick knacks on the walls. Nice atmosphere. Well, we get seated by a window and start parusing the menu. Can you imagine, a restaurant in a very, very small village of a small town has gluten free pasta???? They charge $3 extra, but hey, its gluten free!!!!!!! We had such a nice meal. I didn't ask other questions, and the waitress doesn't completely get it, because my salad came with croutons and I'd forgotten to ask for it without. So for tonight I just picked them off and gave them to Geoff. But when our food came out, she assured me it was gf pasta. And everything was so hot and fresh. Geoff said the rolls were wonderful. Too bad its a slightly classier joint so we won't go there a lot. But WOW was the food good, and the service too.

ALL RIGHT KATY! :bear:

That's great that you and Geof were able to find a place to go and get the food you were able to eat besides salad!

I like to go to dinner with my sister at least once during the week. Both our husbands work 2nd shift. It is hard to find somewhere I can eat actual food! I am anxious to try our local Olive Garden. Luce says they have GF food (I think it was her)

The last time we went out, I asked the waitress if they had a GF menu and she said "just don't eat any desert, oh wait - we do have sugar-free pie! (sigh) Most times they look at me like I am from another planet! LOL (I want to say MARS so bad)

Anyway - I'm glad you had an enjoyable dinner! You deserve it!

Hey Katy

Very cool. I actually had the GF @ Olive Gardan & DF & EF. 3 choices & it was very good. My DIL bridal shower was today & it was hard to not eat all my favs. Grilled pizza, calamari, carrot cake  They made me grilled chicken & green beans & I brought a Nana's cookie. Still in remission though :bouncing: Love & light, Rita

Olive Garden does gf????? Oh, now I'm excited. There are rumors that there is one going in in a nearby town! And Geoff and I eat out a lot over there because its the town we do our grocery shopping in and is where the nearest Walmart is and such. Usually we do chinese or taco bell/kfc.

Yippee.

Katy

PS: You should have seen the dessert tray at the place last night. It looked AWESOME, but definately nothing on it gf  Ah well, we were too stuffed to eat any more anyway.
