Leah, I took Effexor 75mg while I was on hormone replacement for 2 years and I had no trouble stopping it when it was time. I think 75mg is the lowest dosage available but again, I had no trouble when it was time to stop taking it. Maybe those that had trouble stopping were on a higher dose.
Wishing you well,
Carol

I think Effexor is one of the meds that it either works for you, or it doesnt. (and you dont know until you try)
I was on it 2 years ago, tapered off (was rough but not the worst thing i have done) in April 2013.
Turns out it was a better option for Pyrrole, so I have just tapered off Elevil and gone back onto Effexor, lowest dose is 37.5, which is what I am currently doing. We are not going to increase it until we check my liver and kidney
like most meds, they all have their Pro's and Cons, most of which is reliant on each individuals body chemistry, any possible deficiencies etc etc.
Good luck which every path you decide
take care
