Hello from another newbie
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this support group and for your book, Tex. My LC diagnosis came on August 13 after four weeks of D and a colonoscopy. Like most, my GI doc gave me little information on LC--a one-page sheet with possible causes, treatment, which included dietary changes but little guidance and steroids and things to avoid, like ibuprofen and other NSAIDS. I called the doc's office a few times to talk to his nurse and she was either out or in clinicals so finally went to the internet and found the book on Amazon. I am taking budesonine three times a day and have read here that it would be better to take the three at one time. Can I just do that without checking with my doctor or pharmacist? Sleeping has been a problem and I wondered if it was the drug. Anyway, thanks to all of you for what I have learned. Am taking it a day at a time and moving slowly with the food. Sharon in Nebraska
Hi Sharon,
Welcome to our internet family. I'm very glad that you found the book helpful. The recommendation to take the full dose of Entocort at one time in the morning is part of the label information for the medication, and it comes straight from the manufacturer. You can view the manufacturer's information about the drug at the link below. There's nothing inherently harmful in taking it at various times of the day, it just works more effectively (and probably causes fewer side effect problems) it it's taken according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
It's certainly possible that Entocort might be affecting your sleep, especially if taken later in the day, but MC can also cause sleep disruptions.
Again, welcome aboard, and as Connie mentioned, please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Welcome Sharon.
I also took Budesonide, but as you read the book and all the postings here, you will soon realize that the drug only makes it so that our symptoms let up and we can lead our lives….. however, it's the diet that will bring lasting remission. Make sure you take it long enough, lower the dose when you start getting constipated ( which will happen if you take out all foods that are problems), and SLOWLY wean off of it. If the only things you do is take out gluten, dairy, and fiber you will be well on your way.
Good luck
