Like I need another thing to complain about.......
Has anyone experienced a bad taste in their mouth that won't go away? Over the past two weeks it's become noticeable all day long. I'm not sure how to explain it but my first thought was the hydrogen breath test I did years ago. It seems similar but I can't put my finger on it. It's also reminds me of morning breath but doesn't improve after I brush my teeth.
Hoping it will just be one of those odd things that come and go.

Dear Deb,
I am very new here, but I have had the 'bad taste in my mouth' thing many times over the last few years/months. It does go away, sometimes more quickly than other times, although it can be hard to pinpoint when it disappears and therefore how long it lasted - perhaps it just fades out! I am sure it only was a day or maybe two - however my memory is not entirely trustworthy!
Because I have Gilberts syndrome which means my liver struggles with various things including fat digestion, I do think that sometimes it is because I have eaten more fat than my liver can happily process. I often get associated symptoms of headache, slight nausea, and miscellaneous other things that I can't remember right now!
I have definitely had less episodes of this and other unpleasant effects of LC ,celiac and Gilberts by eating carefully - which for me has been Auto-immune paleo.
Hope you are 'tasting' better!
Meriel

Deb,
I've never had the hydrogen breath test, so I don't know what that tastes like. Since you have changed your diet lately though, I wonder if it could be due to the effects of a low-carb diet. Have you reduced your carb intake? Does the taste remind you of acetone? If so, that would be an effect of ketosis, as your body burns fat from cells, instead of carbs from your diet.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Meriel,
Welcome to our Internet family. It sounds as though you have a good understanding of the diet connection with autoimmune issues.
