Day 6
Hi again,
Here I am on day 6 of constipation, except for the little brown nuggets on Tuesday. I got impatient and tried a glycerine suppository. Result: 5-6 nuggets with mucous. I felt that there was more in there, so used another suppository, which yielded one larger nugget/ mucous, and some tiny red spots of blood.
Is the blood of any concern or is this sometimes found with gross inflammation? I can't remember having the blood before, although it's possible.
Any opinions are welcome!

Hi Alice,
Blood in the stool is not part of the inflammatory pattern of MC, but it's a satellite issue that's not rare because it can be caused by inflamed rectal blood vessels (hemorrhoids) due to either D or C. I can't think of any other cause that would be associated with C, because virtually all infections, parasites, cellular dysplasia, etc., that can cause blood in the stool should cause D rather than C.
This case is a real puzzler.

Day 9
Hello again,
Day 9 of my attempts to get back to normal, and I'm almost of afraid to say it (knock on wood), but things continue to improve and BMs are becoming more normal. For the first 6 days I ate almost exclusively foods with soluble fiber, then gradually began adding in things like almond milk, light ice cream, yogurt.
I'm still eating mostly soluble fiber, though. Also Activia yogurt and taking probiotics.

Hi Alice,
In this game, we have to do what works, because the rules are sometimes a bit arbitrary, so I'm glad that you seem to have found a combination that works for you.

Day 15:
I think I'm totally "cured", as in no D for for 2 weeks and not constipated anymore. I've added some foods back in such as chocolate, a raw apple, cooked tomatoes, a cookie now and then. I also drink a half cup of prune juice every day and take probiotics. I'm going to stay with mostly cooked fruits and vegetables. Thanks to everyone who replied to help me!
