Hi Camie,
Entocort is ridiculously expensive and the generic is about half that amount but still very expensive.
You have two options. You can ask your doctor to prescribe budesinide through a compounding pharmacy. They mix it for you and charge about $85.00. That is the cost here in Florida. For the time I took budesinide, I ordered it from the Granville Pharmacy in Vancouver. Their web address is www.onlinecanadianpharmacy.com. There are many reputable foreign pharmacies that can supply the drug very cheaply.
Hope this helps

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Meication prices re enocort generic.
First, thank for the link Tex. I am grateful.
I am once again in a flare. Lactose soy gluten and egg free
So I call the GI doc to increase the really low dose of endocort from .one every other day to one everyday to two every day
So 30 generic endocort caps is $190.00
The pharmacist suggested that the RX be written 1-3 tablets per day as per physician..... total of ninety caps
30 tabs ............$190.00 two month Rx one tab every other day.
90tabs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,$ 95.00 1 -3 per day as directed by the MD.
Does this make any sense to anyone?

Oh, yes. Greedy insurance companies at it again. I take a medication every other day. If the prescription is written that way, I am charged two co-pays. If the prescription is for one every day, I'm charged one co-pay, not two. It's crazy. Have the prescription written for 1-3 a day, 90 capsules for a one month supply. That way you only have one co-pay.

Camie,
I agree with Sheila. When it comes to insurance companies, they are not known for doing things that make sense. They would rather spend $100,000 treating a disease, than to spend $100 for a test or treatment that might help to prevent the disease in the first place.
Pharmacists typically know more about medications (and how insurance companies handle them) than doctors, and so they are excellent sources of information in such matters.
Good luck with your recovery.
You're very welcome,
