chocolate, please

Post by Hopeful »

I am wondering if eating 1 little square of 90% Lindt chocolate would throw off my elimination diet? The ingredients are chocolate, cocoa butter, cocoa powder processed with alkali, sugar (less than 1g.), vanilla bean

you know what I want the answer to be!

While a few of us are sensitive to chocolate (it's a histamine source), the most common problem with chocolate is soy. The higher percentage Lindt chocoate products are usually soy-free (including the 90 % version, as you've noted).

Enjoy!

Chocolate/cocoa is a high histamine food, high histamine = high inflammation.

As you try to sort out reactive foods etc, be cautious as to when you have it.

When I need chocolate I eat enjoy life chocolate chips. They are dairy, nut & soy free. I have trouble, though just eating a few! They also make chocolate bars which I want to try because I would have better portion control.

I eat the dark chocolate that Perugina makes. They use sunflower lecithin rather then soy, so I don't even have to go that dark :)
