Free bulkhead seating because of colitis...

Post by Peggy »

Hi all,

I've mentioned this before, but thought I would again. When I was dx'd with CC it was right before I was travelling to Mexico. My GI wrote me a letter that states I need to be close to the washroom and the front of the plane for rapid exit. Whenever I travel anywhere I just send the airline a copy of the letter and get bulkhead seating (WAY more leg room) at no extra charge. Ron has to pay $30 to be able to sit with me!

Only 20 more

Pegster!

This is very funny. Just remember, you two have the awesome responsibility of managing an emergency exit should a situation arise. God forbid. What airline are you flying anyway?

I'm glad to hear you will be comfortable on the trip. Lannie and I flew coach to MN ( 6 hour trip) and it was so cramped and uncomfortable. I'll keep that in mind for my next trip although I'm not sure my Doc would give me an excuse these days.

Love,
Joanna

J,

I'd be happy to let Ron help anyone in the event of an emergency

My GI's letter is from 2003, I just made sure to have copies of it

The airline is called Skyservice - new one to me.

Never heard of this being done in Australia Peg. I have this recuurant nightmare of being strapped in ready for takeoff or landing & OOOOPPPs, Gotta go. My GP said to tell the attendants the situation but It still would be embarrassing to go tearing up the aisle like that. You would be hardly inconspicuous.  Have to give it a try here next time I fly.

Love

Liz,

Maybe your new GI will write a letter for you.

This is great information to know. The last thing they want in an enclosed place is someone running for the toilet and dribbling along the isle (sp) because we were seated too far away. Then there are sometimes, when it is sudden, and getting up from a sitting position does it, and it would matter if I was sitting right next to the toilet bowl. That happened the other night on me, but I did find these pads that are for those kinds of days. I don't know if or what the men do, but these pads are made thin, but are extra long and fan out wider at each end. They are also made extra long. They are made for the longer part to be in front for women, but work just as well turned the other way for bowel problems. And they are what I use when I have to go out, that are not depends diapers, and it makes me feel less depressed. and more in control. And because they also have wings, and self stick, you get good coverage, for the just in case times when you are out and are not sure if you can control it that day.

I believe they are made by Always, but since I don't have the original pack, I can only guess. But, if and when I would be stuck somewhere for long periods of time, you better believe I have one on for back up.

I thought you would be heading somewhere in Mexico pretty soon. Ahhhh wish I could make it, but that will have to wait till that ship of mine comes in.

Love you pegster, and glad you are going to get to bask in some sun soon, that is sure to help you to heal your body some more.....that and tequila.

Gentle hugs

I'll tell you what one of the men did, (if you promise to keep it a secret. LOL). There were a few times when a pad wouldn't have done me much good. I finally gave up, and broke down and bought a package of . . . let's see, I don't believe it was Depends, I think it was another brand that someone recommended, (this was back in the days of the old board).

I went so far as to carry some with me, in my vehicle, in case I thought I needed them, but I never could bring myself to wear them. LOL. Fortunately, I had already adopted the GF diet before then, and not too long after I bought them, the diet started to do the job, and I never got around to trying them out. I can't speak for anyone else, though.

Hugs,

They have Depends here as well as another brand call Tena Lady (they have some for men too Wayne) They are better I reckon that the Depends. They have a full range for every situation, from long liners to full pants. Always wear & or carry one with me & keep a bag with what I call my emergengy kit in both my & Robert's cars.

Will talk to my new bloke Wayne. Can only try, especially since I hope to be going to New Zealand again soon.

Love
