Exactly, Tex. I guess I did know why. LOL My doctor told me he wasn't trained in it. I figured he must have meant "not trained in it by the pharmaceutical reps." Sad that he won't learn anything on his own. :(

Ann, the LDN from overseas is probably better than the US stuff b/c they aren't time-released. :)

Dr. Ann,
Naltrexone is not a narcotic. It is an opiate antagonist that blocks the opiate receptors.

It's very cheap, an is not going to make anyone a lot of money. That's why.

I have been on it since March and it has helped immensely. Not my gut so much, but my body pain, mood and energy are completely different. I do not get those total exhaustion attacks anymore. Yes, I get tired, and when my back is bad, very tired. But MCers know what the total drained exhaustion feels like. That has about gone. All over body pain is also almost a thing of the past, and as a result my overall mood is much better.
There is my testimonial for LDN. I get it from India and dissolve it. Works great!

I also get my LDN from All Day Chemist. I found a doc who prescribed but he bailed on me. I think he and my GI are afraid to go off label because of their insurance companies. No real progress MC wise but maybe some help with two different rashes (bumpy and sun burned looking) that I guess to be from Candida. I will keep on taking LDN because of the success of the PP and Facebook LDN group people. I even want to put my dogs on it!

Dr Ann,

The immediate release are working for me too. I don't take the time-released nor do the others who take LDN take timed-release.

Interestingly, the LDN has been miraculous for my MC. No Entocort since March. It helps me get through the day much better but at the moment I feel very tired. Don't know why yet, but it could be because the greyhounds like to break up my sleep at 4 and 5 AM to go out. They rarely go out together.

"IMPORTANT: Make sure to specify that you do NOT want LDN in a slow-release form.

Reports have been received from patients that their pharmacies have been supplying a slow-release form of naltrexone. Pharmacies should be instructed NOT to provide LDN in an "SR" or slow-release or timed-release form. Unless the low dose of naltrexone is in an unaltered form, which permits it to reach a prompt "spike" in the blood stream, its therapeutic effects may be inhibited."

I asked my pharmacist today about the LDN that I am taking and she said it is instant release but if I wanted to open the capsule and take it that way it would be a little faster. She also said some like for it to go a little further down the digestive tract to help that way. She said it affects the brain and gut by going systemically but also helps the gut by going down the gut. She said some like to take it out of the capsule because they are vegan.
