magnesium spray/epsom salts question

Post by Martha »

If I use magnesium spray, or a spray of epsom salts mixed with water, do I have to wash it off? If so, how long should I leave it on before washing it off? Will not washing it be harmful?

I couldn't find any information on this except for one comment on one of the threads about washing off the epsom salts mixture after an hour. Google searches on epsom salts didn't give any guidance on that either.

Martha:

The magnsium spray need not be washed off. With the epsom salts it is the salt component that can irritate the skin. That is the reason for the recommendation to wash it off after an hour.

Thank you, Dr. Ann. That's exactly what I needed to know.

And I'm with Hopeful, if anyone can recommend a good brand to magnesium spray to buy in the States, and what concentration.

I use Ancient Minerals magnesium lotion ( http://www.ancient-minerals.com/product ... um-lotion/ ) and I am happy with it. I just use it as a regular lotion all over my body, except face and surgery scars, - twice a day after shower.

We use Morton Epsom Salt Lotion. Found at Walmart in the pharmacy section with the Epsom salts. It can be left on. DH and I have found it useful for cramps and muscle aches.

Another great source for oral magnesium is
ReMag™ Magnesium Solution
offered by Dr. Carolyn Dean, MD ND.

It is a bit on the pricy side, but is free of allergens, binders, fillers, etc. and works fast!

I just bought some magnesium oil on Vitacost. I have been getting foot cramps lately so I am putting it on my feet & legs before bed to see if that helps.
