SpectraCell test

Post by Spline Girl »

As I prepare for possible IVF cycle, I would really like to make sure that my vitamins deficiencies after months of D are addressed. So it would be good to know what they are. Did anybody try SpectraCell tests? Was it informative? helpful? any better test out there? Thank you!

Yes, I had 2 of them and I am ready for another. Very expensive if insurance doesn't cover it.

I had it done last spring while I was pretty much in an active flare of MC. It showed me to be deficient in copper, magnesium, arginine and oleic acid. I was also low on all other minerals except selenium. The results actually made sense to me. I was supplementing with a multi as well as extra magnesium and heavily with selenium to support my thyroid. I believe I was deficient in copper, magnesium and oleic acid as well as low in all minerals because of the diarrhea I had been experiencing. Fat malabsorption probably caused me to be low in oleic acid. Selenium was the exception because of how much I was supplementing. So the fact that the test showed me more than adequate in selenium gave the whole thing credibility to me. I really don't have an explanation for the arginine other than MC messing with me because arginine is a non essential amino acid. You don't have to get it from diet your body can make it. But all in all I found the results useful. I started supplementing more magnesium immediately and saw immediate benefits. After my gut settled a little I started supplementing copper and zinc and i believe that has helped as well.
