Here is another clue. The time changed back one hour and that always messes up my sleep for a couple of weeks.

Sleep irregularities fall under the category of stress, so yes, it definitely matters.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I despise daylight's savings time. I never completely adjust- ever. No matter how hard I try, I continue to sleep and wake like clockwork. Up at five to bed at nine, except now it's 4 and 8. My poor husband, how do you do anything fun when your wife starts winding down for the day at 7pm. Spring is a long time away.

For as long as I have had digestion issues, a big factor has been quality of sleep.
In periods of stress, getting run down, if i had good quality afternoon nap, i always pooped within an hour of awaking and always 'felt better' once I had done the poop.

Deb,
I'm definitely not a fan of changing the time twice a year. I really don't care which one is in effect, but I would like for it to remain in effect year-round.
Actually, we're on regular time now — we were on daylight savings time during the summer.
I heard on the news that most European countries recently converted back to regular time for the last time. IOW, they will not switch to daylight savings time next spring. Can anyone confirm that?
Apparently whoever's in charge of such decisions in this country doesn't have sense enough to realize that there's nothing to be gained by manipulating the clock twice a year. Those geniuses should try cutting a foot off the bottom of their sheets and sewing it on at the top, and then measuring to see if that makes the sheets any longer.

according to this site, there are dates set for european 'summer time'
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/rules/eu/
In Aus, not all states do daylight saving, after 24 years in a state that DIDNT change the clocks for summer, I am now back in Clock changing territory..
as someone who likes to go to bed early, for the nights when it is still daylight, I have a wonderful owl character eye mask (thank you Polly xo) that i put on and have no issues getting to sleep!

Deb, that's always been my favorite too! Nothing like beer, pizza, and a movie for a hood night. Oh, wait, I can't do the beer or pizza anymore but a night in is terrific!
I didn't know we are on " real" time now. My body prefers the other way. Fortunately, the amount of light never bothered me for getting to sleep. When I'm tired, I sleep. But that's also easy to say because now it's dark by 5PM. I do suffer from seasonal depression though so that's a bummer. Hey, only six more months til spring!

Deb, my body prefers daylight savings time too. I also have suffered with the seasonal depression. We have been fortunate to be able to escape Minnesota winters and head south for a month or two. That really has helped. I get outside more plus there's longer daylight. I used to feel like I was in a type of hibernation coma from November-April. AllI wanted to do was eat carbs and sleep. :(
Gabes,
Apparently the agricultural news reporter whom I distinctly remember as the source of that misinformation was full of you-know-what.
Thanks,

For those in the US (and the rest of the northern hemisphere), the days will start getting longer again in about 6 weeks. Until then, we have the holiday season to distract us (and frustrate with the navigation of increased food "situations").
I agree on the time change, it's antiquated and time to stop. Let's just pick one and stick with it, already. I don't have as much trouble adjusting in the Fall as I do in the Spring.
Maybe Europe isn't sticking, but there are other countries that do not change (India, for example). I believe that Arizona and Hawaii do not observe daylight saving time. I am not sure whether there are any other US states where this is also true.
