Indeed. I'm juggling a couple books at the moment - one that I'm reading is called "Dissolving Illusions, Diseases, Vaccines, and the Forgotten History." That authors Roman Bystrianyk and Dr. Suzanne Humphries make a good case that major diseases of the past were not cured by vaccines. Instead it was improved sanitation, pest control, and largely improved nutrition that brought an end to the major killer epidemics such as small pox, TB, scarlet fever, etc.
Not to over link to many sights, but it is a neat book, which can be viewed at:

Blueberry, Google Danielle Walker, the author of Against All Grain. She has UC and almost died from it. She is doing great now, all due to dietary changes and supplements. I bought her book but with having LC I can't eat many of the things that she can with UC. Friends have told me that they couldn't eat the way that I do so I take from that remark that they would rather take medication than change their diet. Not me, I am still learning everything I can about this disease so I can manage it without medication. To each his own.

I hadn't seen Danielle Walker's story before having UC and finding relief with the paleo diet. Thanks for sharing and wonderful to see. I agree with you. I'm not sure why a few are as against trying diet ideas to help improve ones health. After reading Danielle's story it reminded me of a former neighbor. I haven't spoken with him in years, but recall he had UC and was very much against diet and supplement ideas. His wife was different though. She was open to trying different nutritional products and being gluten free. I remember he eventually had his colon removed due to it becoming to diseased. I recall the story also of the time his wife decided she wanted to try taking fish oil. I don't remember why that was, but as she told the story he was doing his best to persuade her not to do it. His main selling point to avoid fish oil was that it would give her prostate cancer. As she told us she was willing to chance it.
