Thyroid antibodies

Post by Spline Girl »

Did anybody manage to bring the levels of TPO-Ab (thyroid antibodies) down after eliminating food allergens/sensitivities? If yes, how long (approximately) did it take? Thank you!

My level was not checked (even though I am hypothyroid), until I had been on a restricted diet for about 6 years. Maybe that's why the result was normal.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex, thank you for your response! What about your TSH and T3 levels - did you monitor them?

My doctor checks my TSH level, but that number is irrelevant for me, because my Free T4 is always below range (or at the bottom of the "normal" range). Early on, my TSH was in the middle of the so-called "normal" range, but over the years it has slowly fallen to the bottom of the range, and occasionally it's below range. Even so, my Free T4 remains low, so I probably need more supplement (despite the TSH result), but I feel reasonably well (thyroid-wise), so I haven't changed the dose in years. I occasionally check my Free T3 level, and it has always been somewhere in the middle of the normal range.
