I asked him if Dr. Jill Smith's LDN/Crohns studies had any correlation to MC. (My GI said NO.) He said, "Sufficient overlap in the area and mechanism to suspect that LDN actions may be similar to LDN action on Crohn's."
This is one of his studies at UAB: "Low-dose naltrexone and other microglia modulators for pain
Our lab has shown that low doses of naltrexone can be effective in reducing the chronic pain associated with Fibromyalgia. We believe the medication works by suppressing the activity of immune cells in the brain (microglia) that have become hypersensitized. We are now further testing this medication to see who it helps best. We are also testing other medications that may work even better than low-dose naltrexone."
The presenter on Crohns was a PA whose son had Crohns and had some results in two weeks!
Tomorrow will be 4 months on LDN for me. I thought I was finally seeing some results until today when things were bad D wise. I have to admit that I ate some GF bars with things EL said I should not have. I have had lessening of two different rashes, bumpy on my chest and sunburned looking on my back. However, I got one on my thigh.
I think it may be Candida but my GI looked in my mouth and said it looked like geographic tongue.
