Hi Judy!

If I were in your shoes, I would back up even more. I'd try a meat & a well cooked veggie to start out with for a few days. Then, depending on how you feel, you can add rice, and see how that goes, and so on. An elimination type diet.

I think that maybe you just have too many foods right now to be able to determine what's causing a reaction, and if you can start small and build, it might work better for you.

Honestly, I've lived on meat/veggies/coconut/sunflower seed butter (basically) for quite a while, and my system has calmed down, and I am adding news foods. It takes a while for the inflammation to subside, and healing to take place, to the point of eating many foods again.

Just my 2 cents worth. :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since my flareup started and I'm down 16 lbs. (Not terribly upset by this since I needed to lose weight. But am just not feeling normal.)

Slept somewhat fitfully (from so recently getting off of coffee, I think).

And after breakfast this morning I again felt nauseated. After searching the word nauseated, am thinking it may be the eggs causing it. Going to stay off of them for a while.

This morning, no WD, just very very soft. This afternoon, Normal!

Tuesday:
black tea
poached egg
1/2 banana (helped w/ the nausea)
rice cake
almond butter
honey
glass of Powerade
rice w/ EB
peaches
turkey leg
red potato

Eggs are on the list of intolerances for many of us, unfortunately me included. Can give it a try for a while, and see how you do without

Hi, Linda. Thanks for your 2 cents :) I appreciate all the help I can get. My system seems to be following the same pattern it did with my last flare during the summer. Once I went off of gluten, at that time it only took a few days to get things in check. Then I was fine after that until October. The problem is that I let myself slip back into my old ways (too much gluten), resulting in this flare, which was much more severe. I don't know if I'm right, but I'm suspecting that I am sensitive to gluten and need to stay off of it. My list of foods that I'm eating does look long, but except for the uneasiness in the stomach, I seem to now be tolerating them. We'll see what happens the next few days. I'm sticking to the foods on my list now for the foreseeable future, just to make sure. I'm not using much in the way of seasoning on the chicken/turkey. (I know what leafy seasonings (even crushed) do to me.) And will not include pepper for a long time.

Still having somewhat interrupted nights' sleep.
BM was normal again today.
Am increasing my magnesium by one capsule starting today.

Had 1 WD last night (other than that I slept great!) and again at noon. May be the extra magnesium I took yesterday.

I have been down to 2-3 occurrences a day since Sunday (some soft, several loose). Also I am feeling better every day, and able to get out more. I even went to my water exercise class this morning. Still trying to keep things somewhat simple. I seem to be handling what I'm currently eating ok. It's hard, but I think I can stay with this for a while until I'm healed, but I'm not sure I'll know when that is. The new development I'm having is that I'm seeing what appears to be whole pills in my movements. It's either my metformin (for pre-diabetes) or the magnesium. Those are the only white pills I take. And the new ER metformin requires I take 4 pills a day instead of the 2 I was taking before. If it's the metformin, I wonder if it will have any adverse affect on my blood sugar :(

Friday:

L: rice w/ broth & ginger
D: turkey & rice (cooked in broth)

Feeling better is definitely a good sign. :thumbsup:

Do you check your blood sugar regularly? Extended-release pills are naturally going to take longer to become activated. With the rapid motility that usually goes with MC, ER dosing may not work as well. If your blood sugar is less well-behaved, you might be better off with the immediate-release version that you took previously (unless the reason you switched is because you don't tolerate them very well), at least until your motility gets back to almost normal.

Hi Tex - I recently made the change to the ER tablets because I was told they would have less of an affect on my symptoms. I've never checked my blood sugar, I guess because it was never suggested to me (I'm assuming because the Dx was "pre"-diabetes?). So the only checks are when the doc does them.

I must admit that I'm having a hard time remembering that I can't go back to eating more foods right away just because my WDs are normalizing. (Today's was normal!) I know in my head that I'm not healed yet, or I wouldn't be seeing whole pills in my movements. But boy, with Thanksgiving coming, all the cravings of past Thanksgivings are flooding my mind and my taste-buds :( Not giving it up, though. It is getting easier. It's just the monotony of all the bland foods that gets me down sometimes.

Hi Judy,

With your improving digestion, you should be able to eat turkey and homemade GF dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, etc, as long as you don't overdo it. I've never found Thanksgiving meals to be a problem, as long as I watch the ingredients.

Hi Tex - I do plan to eat turkey and sweet potatoes (or carrots). Not sure I'll be able to make the gluten free dressing, but am exploring the possibility.

I seem to be doing a better job of journaling all of this on paper at this point, so I'll discontinue posting my journal entries for now. Thanks everyone for your help and input!
