Going to Disney!
My husband is home from an 8 month deployment and he wanted to go away somewhere on vacation. I haven't gone away on vacation since my LC diagnosis and I almost said that I didn't want to go away. But after doing some research, Disney is very good for kids with food allergies so that was my choice. I'm going to Fed Ex food that I will eat for breakfast and lunch and we'll eat dinner out. I am not going to stress about the food that I will eat and just go with the flow (making wise choices, of course.) I believe my LC was caused by chronic stress and after reading posts on a Disney page on Facebook about how stressed out people are if they can't get the meal reservation or the fast pass that they want it makes me sad. Life is too short to be so stressed out over such trivial matters. I'm glad to be at the point in my life where I can go and just enjoy the sights and sounds of the season without worrying about all of that "stuff." The only dinner reservation I made was at Epcot and that was to ensure that we get seating for the Processional which I am sure will be the highlight of our trip. And needless to say I will be packing Pepto Bismol "just in case!" As I've said before, I am so grateful for this board and all that I have learned here!

I had a good experience last time I was at Disney. I brought my own food and cooked safe meals in the room. Eating out was great too. I recall the restaurants visited had nice selections making it easier to eat meals I was comfortable with. About my only complaint was all the walking, causing me to be tired! That wasn't Disney's fault though. It doesn't take much to wear me down.
When you talked to the ticket office I hope you requested nice warm days for the visit! It's been unseasonably chilly this fall in Florida. Todays another cold morning. I'm a recent transplant from the mid-west to south Florida and there have been a number of cold morning here. With the high humidity in the air, it reminds me of sub freezing midwest winter days. Thankfully, as it normally does on chilly mornings, it should warm up to comfortable temps by this afternoon.
I'm not making it this year, but was invited - in a few weeks my sister, youngest nephew and my parents will be at Disney World. Getting things worked out, I've heard dad mummble a few times the old saying that Disney is the greatest human trap a mouse even invented! Making the plans can be a pain. He should have a good time once there and with the grandson.
Hope your trip goes well and is stress free!

Marcia, my experiences with Disney restaurants and allergies has been the best of any restaurants I've visited. The chefs have come out to discuss the menu and I even had one take me through the buffet line at the Crystal Palace to discuss everything I could eat. They even brought me out GF bread and dessert! Thanks, ladies! It feels so good to be excited about traveling again! We took our son to Disney three times, this will be our first trip without him because he's in college. We're looking forward to seeing things that we didn't see when it was all about him. It's not for a few weeks yet but I'lll let you know how it goes. Be our guest, be our guest, put the magic to the test....

Hi Marcia,
Please thank you husband for his service. You'll have a great time in Orlando! It sounds like you have a good plan! Don't forget to tell the servers to hold the butter that they generally put on top of steaks, burgers, seafood etc.
Don't forget your bathing suit! I like hanging around the pools. It's major stress relief.
Keep an eye on the weather. Definitely bring one pair of jeans and a jacket.
Let us know how it goes.

Marcia,
I love Disney! We took our kids to Disneyland several times when they were young. Never to Disney World, though, because we have family in southern California, and none in Florida.
This was all pre-MC, so I have no experience with food there, but everything I've read is that Disney is very accommodating to people with special diets.
Have a wonderful time!
