My Thoughts On Why LDN Doesn't Work Very Well For MC

Monique,
Sure, that's a good idea. It's certainly worth a try in cases where other methods are not enough to bring remission. Since it only seems to work for (or at least works best for) people who have additional (non-MC) issues that may be jeopardizing their recovery, I may make this thread a sticky, also.
Thanks.
Love,
Tex

Hi Monique. Thanks for posting in info. I'm thinking that I'd like to try LDN because since taking Tamoxifen, my gut is hard, distended, and painful to the touch. My vaginitis is also acting up. I'm pretty frustrated because so far none of my doctors are willing to try it because theyt aren't aware of this use of the drug. I'm frightened to NOT take the Tamoxifen ( it cuts the rate of cancer recurrence) , but I can't live like this for years either.
I just don't know what to do

Leah, I heartily recommend you try it. You have nothing to lose. Maybe a week with disturbed sleep and a headache or 2, but other than that nothing else. It has made a HUGE difference in my life where nothing else did for so long. For the first time I have had improvement and that is really big for me.
I don't know whether the claims that it fights cancer are true, but, at least for other symptoms it is worth trying. Wonderful "side effects" for me are that it has helped my bladder incontinence, no UTIs, and normalized my sodium for the first time in at least 20 years!

My thoughts on why LDN...
Hi Tex,
Thanks for posting my original post in the Stickies. I went in there and added info about where to get LDN etc....Many of us have other AI issues other than MC, so LDN can bring about a lot of relief.
Hi Leah,
Try it -- you have nothing to lose. It doesn't hurt anything. There are no side effects to speak of and all of my doctors tell me to try it. They say it doesn't hurt. I just wish I had tried it 3 years ago instead of going through the agony I went through.
I have posted where to buy it and where to read more about it. Go to www.lowdosenaltrexone.org to read more. You'll find many FB pages that relate to whatever particular aspect of it you want to know more about.
Let me know if I can help. Anything I can do, I will. You live in the Bay area, there are plenty of functional docs that can prescribe it for you as a compounded drug. If you need a name, let me know.
Love,
Monique

Monique,
When I just now logged on, the entire thread was gone. I couldn't believe that it would just disappear into cyberspace. But then I read your post and you mentioned that you edited it, and that explained the problem. When you edited it, that unstuck it. I went back 9 pages and found it again and restuck it.
Love,
Tex

Thanks Monique. With the on line ordering available, I could just do it myself. The drops are .5mg. each drop. That would be a good place to start. But if that doesn't work, could you again give me the list of Docs who do prescribe it? I accidentally erased it. My husband asked if maybe your doctor would be willing to contact mine? My Gastro. doesn't seem to know anything about this therapy. So frustrating.

My thoughts on why LDN...
Hi Leah,
You could definitely do the drops from Israel at .5mg. A good place to start. The cheapest is via alldaychemist. It adds up to pennies a day. If money is no consideration then do the drops.
My GI doc knew nothing of this therapy but I educated him. I came in with a stack of research papers and clinical trials in my hand and showed him evidence. I wanted to fight science with science. That's all they understand. He is open minded and said I'll go along with the program. I'll prescribe it. I told him I wanted 4.5mg because that's what the clinical trials that were conducted were. He didn't coach me on anything. I learned myself by adjusting and by discussing it with the other FB boards and by talking to Dr. Skip Lenz from Skip's Pharmacy in Boac Raton FL 800--553-7429. He is amazing. (He is on various of our boards chiming in quite often). He is the foremost authority on LDN. He takes it himself for his rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years.
I had my GI doc talk to him. Skip has some 10,000 people on LDN. He has published many papers on the subject. I get my compounded LDN in a cream from him. It costs me $30 a month +7 shipping but since I don't take 4.5mg, it lasts a very long time. If you get an rx and you want it in liquid (best that way you can go up or down until you find your sweet spot), it is about $20 a month I think. The stuff is cheaper than vitamins.
Your doc can try to talk to my GI doc but as I said I was his ground zero patient and I don't know that he is prescribing now to others. I suspect he does because I went back to see him and told him I had amazing results. He was stunned that I got rid of all my meds and had zero symptoms.
If you can get your GI doc to talk to Skip it is best. He knows the stuff inside out: dosing, efficacy etc.. No matter what the docs say, START SLOW. It is best and you can go up incrementally every 2-3 weeks. I barely take .5mg (actually 1.3mg every other day).
I talked to a board member whose husband had cancer nodules and the nodules disappeared. LDN can stop cancer dead in its track from what I understand. The important thing is that it CANNOT hurt you.

You definitely understand how physicians' minds work, and you know how to hit 'em where it gets their attention.Monique wrote:I wanted to fight science with science. That's all they understand.
