I tested positive for the flu today. I had a terrible headache and then the fever started, 102.2. Tylenol hasn't helped. My dr said I needed an anti inflammatory but as you all probably know we can't take those, right? I had the vaccine but my dr told me that it only covers 50% this year. I even got the quad shot without preservatives. This is miserable! I also started Tamiflu and my husband is starting it prophylactically.
I'm sorry to hear that. That's a heck of a note, but it appears that way too many of the cases of flu in this part of Texas are also people who have had the vaccine.
It makes one wonder if the labs that develop the vaccines actually know what they're doing, or they're just in it for the money.
I wonder if an inhalant form of budesonide (such as is used for treating asthma) could be used as an anti-inflammatory medication in a case such as this. That would be an off-label use of course, but corticosteroids work by suppressing mast cell numbers and activity, so theoretically it should help.

No, I didn't have the flu symptoms until this week. I think I am just very sensitive to mag. I am using a tiny bit just enough to keep me from having the muscle cramps but not enough to give me EXTRA D.

Yea, Ironically it was all over the news last night how ineffective the vaccine is this year. They just guess when they make up the vaccines and just guessed wrong. I suppose.
I saw on the news yesterday that the flu shot does not match most flu that is going around. The doctor on the news still recommends getting the shot. So, I would say it's all about the money. Last year the CDC put out a message saying the flu shot was only 9% effective in people over 60 years of age. But, that we should still get it. I didn't.
I'm pretty much back to normal except for a lingering cough and still taking Tamiflu for one more day. Fever was gone completely by Saturday and so was the headache. I did end up using a nasal steroid, not budesonide, and I think it helped. I'm told I am having a shorter and lighter case because I took the shot and am taking the Tamiflu. Who knows!!!!
