Hello everybody,
I was reading an article about the brain in the gut on Mercola.com:
"For instance, in December 2011 the Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility reported the novel finding that the probiotic (good bacteria) known as Bifidobacterium longum NCC3001 has been shown to help normalize anxiety-like behavior in mice with infectious colitis."

Have any of you tried this probiotic, or is it rubbish and money out of the window?

I've had good luck with the VSL #3 my GI suggested it has:
8 strains of live bacteria namely Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus.

Intended Use
VSL#3 is intended to be used in the dietary management of medically diagnosed ulcerative colitis, an ileal pouch or irritable bowel syndrome. As VSL#3 is a medical food it must be used under medical supervision.

Hi Theresa,
I have stayed clear of vsl#3 due to the manufacturer using dairy as a culture. I'm just leary of it with all my sensitivities.
While it has most of the strains I was looking for it does have bulgaricus, which is a histamine liberator. And, I was trying to steer clear of acidophilus.
GutPro seemed to fit all my criteria.....let's hope & pray that I tolerate it.....

Lilja.....
Longum is also anti inflammatory for the gut!
