I have finally lost my marbles!

Post by natythingycolbery »

I don't know if this was a UK only event, or an international event, but the first week of December was Crohn's and Colitis awareness week. Needless to say, nothing at all was mentioned about MC.

I got VERY annoyed at this, given Crohn's and Colitis UK do mention very little about MC on their site at all I decided it was time to make my voice heard! So in the early hours of December 3rd I sent them an email asking them if they would do more to raise awareness of MC if I did five 10k runs, 2 half-marathons and a marathon next year for them. The next day I got an email back to say the email has been forwarded to the managers. I expected to hear nothing back at all, usually these sorts of things just get abandoned.

How very wrong I was! Last Friday one of the managers emailed me back and said they would not only run more on all media sites about MC and do more to encourage MC sufferers to share their stories etc, but that if I was 100% serious about doing all the runs they would share what I am doing and how I am doing with my mission across all their media.

So I am running 134.4K next year, best get those running shoes on!

Katy,

You have awesome ambition! Congratulations on convincing them to focus their attention on a long-neglected issue.

And best of luck with this adventure.

Great job! They have a lot of info on their site, I follow on FB. There don't seem to be many sites about MC.
I read all I can find about any type of IBD because I believe they are all similar and one type can change to another. I have MC and UC.

You may well call it 'awesome ambition' I call it 'Things I commit to without fully thinking of the consequences.'

Not much has really happened yet, what with it being the holidays now. But I have started a blog about the whole adventure if you would like to read it http://134point4.blogspot.co.uk/

The charity have said they will start to post info up in the new year, they have asked me to keep them updated with training etc.

Training will start next year!

As a final note, Merry Christmas everyone!
