Anyone traveled to the Bahamas with MC?
I've been invited to a wedding in July that will be in the Bahamas. I haven't travelled since the diagnosis 2 years ago and very concerned about getting a flare-up. I have been able to control the MC through diet (gluten & dairy free) and have been off meds. If I'm not careful, I do still get flare-ups. Has anyone been to the Bahamas and can attest to excellent or crappy diet accommodations? Thanks!

Hi, Jessica. I can't be of any help, but good luck to you in your search. I understand how you feel. My son wanted to go to an island when he finishes with college in May. I was afraid that I would have a flare-up from the food. Luckily he got an internship for the summer and we'll just be going to a beach in the states when he's finished. I do think it will depend on where you are staying. Maybe you can find out where you will be staying and go from there. Take as much "safe" food along as you can. I just did that on our trip to Disney.

Jessica,
Some members here have arranged for either hotel rooms or other facilities that include kitchens, so that they can do their own cooking while vacationing/traveling. Such accommodations are available in many places in Europe, apparently, but I have no idea what you might find in the Bahamas.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Jessica,
Never been there but I'm like your husband. You can probably get fresh fish....really good 3 x per day.
If I'm clueless about a location I'm traveling to I like the tripadvisor forum. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g1 ... hamas.html.
If you scroll down to the bottom someone asked about GF.
Here is the restaurant thread. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants- ... hamas.html. Some of the restaurants will have links with menus attached. Even reading the reviews will give you a feel for types of foods available in the restaurants.
If you have hotel reservations check your hotel website to see if a menu is linked and you can check out the hotel menu before your trip. If no menu is linked you might email the hotel and see if they can scan and email a menu to you.
I found reading the restaurant reviews and looking at menus in advance from the trip advisor website really helpful prior to my trip to Denver/Glenwood Springs/Aspen this summer.
I generally put food in my checked luggage.
Your trip sounds fun! Brandy
