Flu-like symptoms

Post by sseven »

Hi and Happy New Year,

Picked up some kind of bug from visiting friends who had the flu but failed to tell us until later. I had severe vomiting and diarrhea for approx 8 hours--it was bad. I am up and around today but wondering what the v and d did to my gut. I did a search on the archives and found some info about a homemade rehydration drink that I am drinking to replace electrolytes. Everything I have done in healing my stomach the last four months--is it gone and I am back to square one? I assume the v and d caused inflammation but will that trigger any new allergies? I just got the EnteroLab report about ten days ago. Anything else I should know or do besides asking about someone's health before we visit?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm sorry that someone jeopardized your recovery. Relatives probably view me as some kind of Grinch, but I try to avoid people as much as possible this time of year whenever viruses are a serious threat. And with the flu at epidemic levels here in Texas right now, I pretty much laid low during the holidays.

Hopefully your setback will only be temporary, for however long the virus lasts. Relapses sometimes happen, especially if the inflammation sticks around a while, but if you're very careful about what you eat and drink, and you give your body the rest it needs to recover, you should be OK, and your recovery should soon me back on track.

Good luck, and you're very welcome, of course.

Sharon
it depends on how long the vomitting and Diarrhea goes on, as to if it is causing issues or undoing healing...

I dont think it will cause 'new allergies'. depending on how much you have dropped ingredients in the past week after your enterolab results, it could be your body adjusting to the changes, clearing toxins. Toxins are better out than in!!

hope you feel better today.

take care

Sorry for your setback. Last Friday I got a nasty headcold/sinus bug followed by the flu the next day. Not-so happy new year. Sigh. Luckily It is not the V and D kind. Not that I don't have D now but it's funny how one can tell the difference between "normal" D and that caused by something else. Terrible chills, body aches, and a splitting headache. Now the head cold remains. Everyone at work and at home is going through the same thing. Thought I was going to avoid it and was feeling pretty smug. Not anymore.

I wish sleeping upright was comfortable.

Hope you get back on track soon! I think there should be a law that those with MC suffer through enough crap and are exempt from colds & flu. It has made me appreciate that things can always be worse.

Thanks Tex, Gabes and Deb. I am doing better today--not much energy, though. It will come back.

Gabes, I had decided to wait until after January 1 to make any adjustments after the EnteroLab results, so was still doing sweet potatoes and chicken tenders. If any toxins came out, that is great!!

Deb, so sorry about your flu and head cold. I hope you feel better soon and I certainly agree that things could always be worse.

Thanks again.
