GF and weight loss
Having stuck rigidly to my GF diet, even eating rice or potatoes for breakfast, ppl have commented that I have lost weight. I think it's true. I don't ever weigh myself. Is this normal? I guess I can't snack on really anything! I am somewhat overweight so no bad thing. However the hypochondriacal state I can be one due to failure by the medical profession to deal with anything makes me nervous. Many symptoms have had their fire go out. Some won't ever go I think.
Hello Greengoddess,
I lost 12 kilos in one year, that was when I started GF, DF and lived mostly on broth, rice, some overcooked vegetables and fruits. I think my weight loss was due to a vitamin and mineral deficiency, in addition to lower food intake and a lot of D.
I lost a lot of muscle mass.
It was not until I started taking B-vitamins that the weight loss stopped. It is now stabilized, but I have not gained my 12 kilos back, but my muscles have definetely come back, and I feel stronger.

Most of us lose weight on a very restricted diet, but as we recover, and our intestines heal, our digestion improves and we are once again better able to absorb and utilize nutrients. And most of us are also able to add some foods back into our diet as we heal. Eventually, most of us once again have to worry about gaining too much weight. That might seem impossible at first, but several years of healing can make a world of difference.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
