CT-Scan drink
Hey there. So, it turns out that I am not through with my health issues. I am pretty bummed out about it right now. A "mass" has been steadily growing in my abdomen over the last few months. I first thought it was my intestines acting up from the Tamoxifen, but I started to question that since my bowels have never been better. When I lie down, I look three months pregnant! My gastro looked at and felt it briefly yesterday and said that it's not my intestines. He thinks it's a uterine fibroid. Wow, I didn't know they can get this big. Anyway, I am in the process of drinking the "prep" for a CT-Scan. Has anyone else done this? Will it give me D?
Hi Leah,
That's a heck of a note, but your GI doc is probably right. Back when I was trying to figure out what was wrong, the first test I had was a CT scan. It was a lot of liquid to drink, when I was already feeling so sick, but other than the volume, it wasn't too bad. I remember having to stop by a toilet on the way to the scan room, but afterward, if I recall correctly, I had a few good days (for a change).
I had a CT scan of my abdomen back in October when I had the kidney stone issue, and there were no adverse effects. So I'm guessing that it shouldn't cause any problems for you.
It's always something, isn't it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Leah,
Hope all goes well. I had a fibroid about grapefruit size and opted for a hysterectomy about 20 years ago. I had just had enough of the pain, heavy bleeding, etc and decided to have the surgery.

Leah - prayers being said for good test results and no ill feelings from the "prep" you have to drink for the CT scan. Praying also that this is the last for you. Enough is enough.

results and thanks
Thanks to all of you for your well wishes. The prep turned out to be no big deal. I was also injected with the iodine solution. The good news is that all my other organs look good and that the fibroid is benign. The bad news is that it is the size of a baby's head! I need a complete hysterectomy and because of the breast cancer, the ovaries are being removed also. I was originally scheduled for Feb6 which I was good with. I just want to get it over with. Then I got a call today saying that someone else took that appointment before I did and that the next available is Feb 27th! I am not happy with this! I look about three months pregnant, it hurts to the touch, and I can hardly button my pants…. and if it still continues to grow, they may have to cut me completely instead of laparoscopic. That recovery would be so much longer and more difficult. I have a call out to my obgyn to find a way to move this up. Keep your fingers crossed.
