I read your book and I agree with everything in it.
But the truly gratifying part was that those words were spoken by none other than my own doctor. Is that awesome or what? What are the odds against me finding such a doctor? They have to be astronomical.
No, he's not a GI specialist, and no, he doesn't have MC himself, but his son has Crohn's disease and his daughter has celiac disease. So the entire family follows a grain-free, dairy-free diet. He's been my doctor for a couple of years now, but I had never met him previously, as strange as that may seem.
Like most of us here, I'm not a big fan of waiting in lines, or waiting 2 or 3 months for a doctor's appointment. So whenever I called for an appointment, the choice was between waiting a couple of months to see him, or seeing his PA within a day or so (or sometimes even the same day). So naturally I've been seeing his PA every time. But today when I called, miracle of miracles, thanks to a last minute cancellation I was able to schedule an appointment for this afternoon, to actually see my doctor.
At any rate, the experience of finally meeting him was incredible and inspiring. Having a doctor who not only understands, but who follows a similar diet (even though he personally doesn't have to) is downright awesome, IMO.
Actually, I wanted to use a different subject line for this post. I originally intended to use the title, "Today I Met The Most Awesome Doctor In The World". But I'm aware that probably more than a few members here may have interpreted some of the diatribes I've posted against certain GI docs who have severely mistreated some of the members here, to imply that I have a general bias against all medical professionals. That's not true of course, but I can certainly see how that might appear to be the case. So anyway, in order to prevent widespread fainting among such members who might read this post, I thought I'd better tone down the title a bit.
My vision of a perfect world for MC patients would be one where everyone would have such a doctor.
