I would think that should be worth a try, to see how it works.
Good luck.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
You wrote about gas about 12 months ago etc... and somehow you fixed it?? Anyone that can help me! The D has subsided a lot-- its once a day first thing in the morning-- but the bloating and gas is horrible. :( No grains, no dairy, no fruit, no nuts, no eggs, no coconut, no cruciferous veggies, no raw veggies, no nightshades, not even sweet potato although I have been trying to reintroduce it... Basically I live on bison, turkey, spaghetti squash, zucchini, butternut squash, cooked green beans, avocado, olives... and thats pretty much it.
Ontop of it-- I have homozygous 677 mthfr mutation to which I am starting to supplement with methylfolate and methyl b12... and lastly now i have major hormone issues. Basically depleted all around-- had to get an MRI to rule out pituitary tumor. sigh. Basically zero progesterone, low estrogen, low everything else-- including t3 and t4 with normal tsh-- but I am taking nature throid but CANNOT stop gaining weight-- which when you see waht I eat-- sounds crazy, I am struggling so much with teh gas- and I am super into fitness and the workouts I am aure are just depleting me because I can't fuel well. ANYONE have an suggestions>???? Low dose naltrexone?? FOr the horrible smelling gas??

the gas issues vastly improved when i fixed some key deficiencies/balanced histamine inflammation with Magnesium, Vit C, and Zinc
I also did a few months of SB boullardi - I think the combo of fixing deficiencies/balancing inflammation with the SB boullardi was the fix.
took me about 4 months to work up to the high doses and introduce the SB Boullardi and 'fix' the gas issue
(I dont handle anything soy or bean related so the green beans would be an issue for me.)
Re the MTHFR 677 and taking methyl B12. I had some issues tolerating the methyl B12, until I fixed some of the other methylation issues..
the weight issue was the same for me - but i have managed to lose quite a bit of weight since doing the following:-
- fixed major deficiencies with the magnesium,
- balanced histamine inflammation
- got the gut happier with SB Boullardi and some ginger based digestive enzyme
- continued to have lots of home made bone broth (to heal leaky gut)
- got rid of excess metals/toxins via molybdenum, Vit E, P5P, while continuing with high dose magnesium Vit C and zinc
- despite always 'in range' TSH, got my iodine levels checked via urine test, was badly deficient in iodine and supplemented with that
- although I dont have MTHFR 677 or 1298, knew i had methylation issues, did the 23andme test, methylation reports and have tweaked my eating plan/supplement plan based on those results.
IMO the weight reduction is because of the following:-
- fixing major deficiencies and having healthier cells (more energy and being more active)
- getting rid of toxins/heavy metals that were exacerbating my health issues (I also have PCOS/renal impairment/fibro/sclerosis/depression/anxiety)
- fixing the iodine deficiency
- and now - understanding my gene mutations and the impact on methylation/metabolism and being able to fine tune my eating and supplement plan to better suit what is going on.
keep in mind, if you are low on Vit D3, keep supplementing with this as this is crucial to the process as well.
with the improvements mentioned above, I have been able to use lanolin on my skin and spend 2 hours a day, 5 days out of 7 in the aussie sun, this with the improved cells means i am producing good levels of Vit D3 'naturally' I only supplement if I dont get adequate time in the sun...
Hope this helps....

Wow! That's a lot of info. Thank you so much. Do you think balancing histamine inflammatkon was through the zinc and vitamin c? I take magnesium every night before bed. Natures calm- about 325 mg. do you think a myers cocktail would work well? How do you take the high doses of vitamin c? I have the sb boullardi but stopped it months ago bc I couldnt tell if it was helping or hurting the issues :/. With all thjs hormone and thyroid stuff I'm just beyond frustrated. I've gained 16 lba eating barely a thing. I just don't know where to start. (Again!). I am going to remove chicken - as i feel like it's causing issues when I do eat it on some occasion-... As far as the gas and food intolerances- I'm beside myself! I've been in this particular flare for over a year. Thank you for so much info. It's nice to talk with someone thag has had success.
Could you find an integrative MD who would prescribe Armour for your thyroid. I found that to be very helpful and once I got to the right level of medication I was not as tired and my weight dropped.
Hi Donna! I am on nature throid - 32.5 mg-- it's similar to armour but my dr prefers it because of the blend etc. It's also desiccated thyroid. I have been on for months and still gaining :(. Maybe it's not a high enough dose? Not sure. I do know thag I have essentially zero progesterone so that may be causing an eatrogen imbalance. All of it is so overwhelming! Thanks for the suggestion!!!
Yes, it could be your dose. My doctor gave me a prescription and allowed me to increase my dose each week until I felt better. I ended up tripling my dose to 1 1/2 grains which is still a relatively low dose, but it works for me.

it takes all three Magnesium, Vit C, and Zinc to help with balancing histamine inflammation...
high doses of Vit C also helps if there is any candida
zinc is also good if there is excess bacteria. ( i brush my teeth/gums with zinc liquid)
Zinc, Vit C and magnesium are also essential for removing toxins/heavy metals that may be in the gut (due to leaky gut, due to ongoing inflammation)
The 325mg of magnesium that you are taking, is that 325mg of elemental magnesium?? I take over 1000mg of Elemental magnesium. depending on the type of magnesium and if it is a blend, it can take 1000mg of magnesium to get 310mg of elemental magnesium.
Too much magnesium orally can cause Diarrhea. alot of us here use magnesium oil/spray.
lots of valuable information and various peoples experiences is located http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20099

Linda,
Majority of my zinc is via Now Foods Zinc Picolinate (from iHerb)
I get some zinc amino acid chelate from my magnesium powder
And i use ionic minerals liquid zinc (zinc sulphate) to brush teeth gums (also from iHerb)
