lidocaine shots

Post by miriam »

H, I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with lidocaine shots. I'm supposed to have a skin biopsy tomorrow that will include 3 lidocaine shots in different parts of my leg. Does any know if this will trigger a flare?

thanks!

I had a cyst removed and the freezing injections did not cause any MC symptoms (I don't recall what type of freezing it was).

I believe the effect is very localized so it shouldn't cause a flare. Everyone is different though.

Miriam,

IMO there shouldn't be any risk of an MC relapse. About 20 years ago research was conducted showing that lidocaine (administered either systemically or by enema) might be an effective way to treat ulcerative colitis.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
