Hi all,
Suddenly I have to run to the toilet all the time; like 45 min between each visit.
I am currently tapering off Entocort; now down to 1 capsule every 4th day, and I will start with 1 capsule every 5th day this coming Monday. I will be totally off Entocort June 16, according to my calculation.
Having heavy night sweats during night and so thirsty; I run to the toilet 3 times per night and I drink 2 big glasses of a homemade electrolyte drink during the night.
Out of the blue, I experience this urge to go to the toilet all the time. So, I decided to test the urine at 9 o'clock this morning. When I got back home 8 hours later, I discovered that the urine had changed from a clear transparent fluid to a clear transparent fluid, but with a white "cloud" (like Cotton) in the middle of the glass.
I don't like to run to the doctor's office for simple things, hence the home-made test. And I know from experience that my doctor will give me a prescription right away. I am against medication, unless I'm very sick.
Is the white "cloud" due to bacteria or is it harmless? I don't feel sick, just the frequent running to the toilet.

Hi Lilia,
I don't know how to judge cloudy urine, but all of the other symptoms that you named are consistent with hyperthyroidism. But they could also be caused by a UTI. Have you tried taking D-mannose, just in case you have a UTI?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Tex,
Thank you for your prompt answer. We cannot buy D-Mannose over the counter, so I will have to order it online from abroad, which I will do.
Your comment on hyperthyroidism is quite in line with what I have suspected for quite some time, but what can I do to adjust the thyroid gland other than taking some medication? I understand that finding the right balance in medicating hypo- and hyperthyroidism is a challenge, and I would love to find the balance through right nutrition.
Maybe I'd rather wait and see until after I have come off Entocort before I take any measures?

Lilia,
Unfortunately there aren't any well-known options for treating hyperthyroidism without medical intervention. That said, I know that melatonin is capable of downregulating the thyroid, and if melatonin is used by someone who has hypothyroidism, it can actually make hypothyroidism worse.
So if I were in that situation, I would try taking melatonin, and I would keep notes on how it affects my symptoms so that I could figure out the best dose.
