Polly, Tex, anyone...med ?
I have a medical question. I took Two Tylenol P.M's two night in a row. As you may remember...I have insomnia when I don't work. Anyway....I went to sleep both nights but woke up two hours later feeling really antsy and restless..had to get out of bed. Could this be a reaction? Then this A.M (3rd day) I awoke with a headache. Strange I say......? Love Oma
Hi Oma,
Well, of course, I can't give medical advice, so this is just my personal opinion, based on experience, and information on the label of the product.
Excitation is a listed side effect for children, but I would think that it wouldn't be very common for adults. That doesn't mean that it's not possible to affect adults that way, though. The diphenhydramine in Tylenol P M, is an antihistamine, and I find that if I take an antihistamine when I am not having allergic symptoms, I sometimes get sort of an agitated feeling from it. One of it's side effects is drowsiness, so that's why it's used as a sleep aid.
Do your sinuses feel too dry, when you take it? I have that problem if I take an antihistamine when I'm not having allergic symptoms, such as watery eyes, and runny nose. That could conceivably cause a headache.
Be sure that you don't take Tylenol P M if you've taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, such as Marplan, Nardil), or Parnate, in the last 14 days. A very serious drug interaction could occur, with possible serious side effects.
Maybe Polly has some better insight on the product.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
