MC in full remission now?...but Acid Rebound Help :S

Post by nsaidcolitis »

Hey guys, I have done so much healing in my colon now I have no gallbladder pain anymore ...other autoimmune problems got a lot better too... but yeah my colon was the most sensitive and now I feel NOTHING in the colon and I used to have pain there or discomfort all the time and it varied in intensity according to what I ate and even antibiotics didn't do a thing to my colon it was very strong :pigtail: . No diarrhea side effects or any side effects in the colon that i was aware of... and it was very sensitive to even rice/meds/half a banana before.... I can now eat tons of white rice with no colon pain and can now eat bananas(ate as much as 8 one day) as much as I want to too can eat rice chex and almond milk like theres no tomorrow with no MC symptoms (D/C or pain) as much as I want heck I even had some soy waffle a few weeks ago and nothing...no pain... might even try some dairy (thinking of doing the SCD yogurt stuff) and gluten next week ...ha nah  ...never will touch gluten ....even with an astronaut suit.

But because of the reflux I'm sticking to easy digestible foods and bland diet because the gastritis h pylori left me.

So here are some tips for newbies to reach remission: stick to one veggie, one meat for a few weeks and do your best after that add more stuff and check your reaction for me this was easy as I had the reaction quickly in 30 min or less. Don't do the elimination thing where you take out dairy and wait months for a miracle because it will take you years like that...just go one veggie/one meat(fish and carrots the best imo...as chicken/potatoes both gave me D). I was living on carrots/olive oil and fish for at least two months even rice gave me trouble and I think that's what helped me the most.

Unfortunately this is kind of dangerous as you will lose weight a lot on low carb which happened to me but this is proof that tex is right this thing works if you allow enough time for healing. If you truly eliminate all your food intolerances it can go away like mine did in a few months. Now MC I don't worry about it anymore I feel like I don't have it anymore but I still stay clear of soy/dairy/gluten don't want to bring it up again and I told my GI about this (he wanted to do Lactose Intolerance test) and he was cool about it.

But I went through two rounds of antibiotics to get H pylori out of my body and I think I did but it has left me with GERD/heartburn and recently my throat is burning too so that may not be GERD anymore.

Endoscopy was clear a month ago from everything except severe gastritis and h pylori. I don't think I have gastritis pain and belching seems to be going away just the throat burning heartburn...and reflux.

Went to the doctor today and was advised to go on nexium after stool test(next week) for h pylori. Now I don't have much discomfort from the heartburn/throat but I'm worried I'm damaging myself without using the nexium but I am 100% sure that caused it as soon as I stopped the nexium for two days...I had the heartburn....but I don't understand the throat burning....nexium should cause GERD not LPR right? . I need your advice guys so I can discuss it with my doctor on what to do (he is a little open minded than the one I had before).

Do you think this will go away by the way or it's permanent I never had acid in my mouth before nor heartburn before antibiotics and nexium.... what worries me is the throat burning kind of makes me think this will be a permanent problem and no longer a rebound thing.

Unfortunately due to other health problems(hopefully temporary) I spend most of the day reclining and I'm sure that doesn't help :S.

But now the reflux....I gotta say...to me is worse or on par with MC.

Edited: Check out the post by ConstantD where she and Tex discuss the rebound effect that can occur with antacids and PPIs.

I'm probably not the most knowlegable here on GERD, but the burning is most likely irritation that remains from the acid reflux you had. Initially I took Dexilant to help with my gastritis, which helped with nausea. Dexilant is also a PPI. Eventually I worried about the side effects of PPIs (loss of muscle tone of the pyloric sphincter, so acid reflux would still continue but for a different reason). With that in mind I titrated off of Dexilant and went with Zactac for the H2 antihistamine qualities. For me it was one of the last of the symptoms to go or the last area to heal. That may be the case for you too.

Hopefully someone else who has dealt more with this will chime in. But this was my experience.

Hope you are doing better today.

A little help

Post by nsaidcolitis »

Hey guys, its been a while. Though my colitis is on remission 100% with diet I dont think I can get rid of my gastritis without a PPI. I can't take H2 Blockers because they make my heart problem worse(I have had pericarditis). I was wondering if any of you got off PPIs safely for other reasons, how did you do it?

I have to decide in the next few days wether or not to take dexilant for my gastritis. I am way too skinny at this point so I may have to take it but I know it will weaken my LES a lot more, it was getting better after quitting nexium but now its worse because I tried H2 Blockers for a month, though it helped with the gastritis.

@Carol

How long did you take dexilant for your gastritis to heal enough to eat properly (not all foods at least just meat rice and healthy vegetables) ? And can you be somewhat detailed on how did you quit?

Hey Nsaid, I'm right there with you. I am not sure what to do. About to post about it myself. Best wishes,
