Hi Toni,

Consider eliminating all fruit for awhile except a smidge of applesauce and or banana. Generally most are ok with a banana or a smidge of applesauce.

Have some protein at every meal then fill in with other stuff....rice sweet potato etc, veggies overcooked and in moderation. Avocados and olive oil are good for calories and most folks are ok with both. A narrow diet can make things easier early on.

Don't despair. It can take awhile. Expecting improvement in 2-3 days might be unrealistic but you should see improvements in 3-8 weeks. It takes awhile to reduce inflammation. I think age matters too. i.e. a younger person generally bounces back quicker than an older person.

You are at the right place to get your life back!

Hi Toni,

I just read this complete thread and agree with the responses you've been given - the most recent being the one from Brandy. There are so many foods that are more irritant early on, but once you have more healing behind you, you'll find you can add many of those foods back into your diet. It does take time and patience. Some see improvement within a couple of weeks, but for me it was more like 8 weeks. As Brandy said, "don't despair." You have definitely come to the right place for the answers you're looking for.

Hi Toni. Yes, I think that you should change your diet plan. When Tex said that fiber is not your friend, that also means fruits and veggies, When I was first reacting, I couldn't look at a fruit! Three years later, I can eat small quantities of it, but still cannot even eat a whole apple without feeling "something". Some of us ( me) can not break down the fructose, so it gets into the large intestine ( where it shouldn't be) and produces gas and even D. The same thing can happen with any sugar. The lactose ( also a sugar) in the yogurt would also be a problem.

When it comes to veggies, fiber is a big issue. That is why we say to cook them well, but that doesn't always work either. at first, I stuck to cooked carrots, squash, green beans, and sweet potato. I added white potatoes after 6 months of healing. I did eat white rice throughout my healing and continue to do so.

Also be careful of acid foods like tomato and citrus and spicy foods.

What worked best for me was a diet of cooked proteins, eggs, rice, GF Chex cereal with almond milk, cooked veggies, avocado, and olives. I did sometimes eat corn tortillas and was fine. We are all different, but start with a few foods until you start feeling better. Then test others in one at a time. After years of healing, I have been able to add many foods back in. That's the good news. However, I still am gluten always), dairy and soy free ( most of the time).

Good luck. Feel better soon!

It is a shame that we can't bottle patience and blind faith.... Cause in MC world we need bucket loads of it....

Stick with bland basics as long as possible..... It's the best path to wellness...

Thank you all sooooo much. I have been feeling a lot better. Taking it one day at a time.

I am so glad for this support group and also for Wayne's book. I am reading it for the second time.

Thanks,
Toni

My motto in the early days was..... Some days are diamonds, some days are stone....

Now it is 'progress, not perfection'.

Day at a time, week at a time is good approach. Things will get better, and less intense/complicated...
