Scottish and/or Irish more prone to LC and MC
My doc has been very helpful. It is a relief since it took years to get a diagnosis.
He believes my Scottish and Irish heritage make me more prone to this disease.
I am curious - are any of you Scottish or Irish?

Both Scottish and Irish here!
I find it interesting that most countries have a grain as their staple food (wheat, corn, rice, etc.), but in Ireland it is the potato. Maybe because so many couldn't tolerate wheat?

Irish.
The potato didn't reach Ireland (from S. American Andes) until the last couple of hundred years. It grew well in the soil and climate and quickly became an indispensable staple of the diet. Not sure what the diet was before that, but I would think fish, some grains such as oats/rye/barley, wild game, grass-fed sheep, etc.
Barley and rye, and to some extent, wheat, contain gluten, too.
Interesting...
