Hi All,

Parts of Eastern Australia are experiencing strong storms and flooding. Gabes is currently without power, and the area has had 14 inches of rain during the past 24 hours, along with hail and high winds. Trees and power lines are down all over the place. And the storms are predicted to continue for at least another 24 hours.

Hopefully she'll be able to stay safe and the weather will settle down soon so that the power companies can repair all the damage to the lines and restore the power. At any rate, in case anyone has been wondering why she hasn't posted in over a day now, that's the reason.

Thanks, Tex,

Yesterday she was posting updates on Facebook about the local weather conditions, but I didn't realize she is now without power. The weather map she shared looked wicked!

I will keep fingers crossed that she is safe.

We are ok!!,
Bit waterlogged, we had 18inches of rain over 2.5 day period...
Winds etc were cat 2 cyclone level. And weird shredding swirling hail storms...

No major damage to any immediate family homes/cars.
Just lots of mud and tree debris to clean up.
We got power back last night, there are still 20,000 local homes without power.
Some may not get it back for a week.

Isolated a bit due to flood waters, damaged roads etc, I went out first thing and hunted and gathered supplies for multiple households....
Exhausting week. Lost 2 weeks of gabe safe cook up due to extended loss of power...

Cie la vie.... Some days are diamonds, some days are stone...
Thanks for all the love and support.. Xo

Relieved to hear that you are fine, Gabes!

It's a shame, though, about the two weeks of cooked food that you lost. You are so right about the diamond and stone days....

Sending you lots of energy!!!

Thanks all,
Tiring week, still a lot of intensity around with major roads cut by flood water.
Getting out to get supplies, what was a 10min trip can take 1-2hrs due to traffic.

It was ANZAC day here in Aus yesterday, remembrance day for all those who died in Gallipoli battle in Turkey 1915. (And have died in service since) Went to dawn service and was reminded how blessed I am.

Mindfullness, ie being at peace with what is, has got me through a challenging week.

The commemoration of Gallipoli has been getting a lot of airtime here this week, and rightly so. The movie (Mel Gibson) that I saw years ago has proven to be one of the most wrenching movies I've ever seen. Certainly a stark reminder that war is hell for those involved. And yet we continue to wage them...

Best of luck getting back on your feet after the storm. A sense of perspective can, indeed, help!
