Theresa, I'm guessing that you were never sensitive to eggs and/or casein, so you probably have nothing to be concerned about with those 2 foods. Everyone is lactose intolerant when they have enteriitis, and it can be tricky to tell the difference between casein and lactose issues without an EnteroLab test result. The same goes for eggs — it's not always easy to tell for sure without an EnteroLab test result. I couldn't be sure about eggs based on my trial and error testing, so I ordered the test, and the result was negative.

breakfast:cheesy scrambled eggs, v-8 juice, coffee
lunch: bacon, cheddar cheese, potato chips, iced tea with honey
dinner: meat loaf, deviled eggs, wine
snacks: New York Cheesecake (with dulce le leche)
Heartburn returned and Norman did not.
The V-8 had been in the fridge a while (histamine response?)
The caramel topping might have exceeded the amount of sugar I can tolerate.

I have been following your progress with great interest.
Rather than the V-8 or sugar, I suspect that you have built up enough antibodies again to egg (and possibly dairy) that you will begin to see symptoms. If this is the case, a flare may be coming on. I hope this is not the case, because I can see how much you are enjoying eating these days! Will keep my fingers crossed.

With this disease, as you know, any small thing can cause a problem, even a little stress. It was just not quite Norman and 2 BMs, still nothing to get upset over.
AFAIK I have never reacted to eggs or cheese, just milk. However these did show up on enterolab results and I have not partaken in over a year.

Very excited now as this was my first actual gluten challenge. In a previous life DH and I loved to have pizza night. Digiorno's is about $6, and ready in 30 minutes. I ate 1/4 of this square pizza (guess who ate the other 3/4)
No problems at all, not even heartburn! Slept like a baby last night.

Sorry, somehow I got that posted twice and couldn't figure out how to remove it.
The Chamber of Commerce Banquet is tonight. Last year I couldn't eat much of what was offered. Not sure what's on the menu for tonight, but will be on the arm of a man in his dress uniform so all is well.

Not sure I would ever get tired of cheesecake!
I have perfected making the perfect size cheesecake in the toaster oven (already too hot in Texas for the big one).

One of the mistakes listed was overindulging when adding a food back in.

These are lengthy, but now that I have learned to watch on my TV while doing needle point it doesn't seem so long.
It took a year of watching every single bite that went in my mouth to get here. Even then I credit the last month of glutamine and magtein with the final healing, I actually noticed my tummy getting flatter and no gurgles or grumbles. My hope is to stay on SCD for about a year, that is what is recommended, a year after all symptoms are under control.
I am hoping I am one of the lucky ones that will be able to control the beast. There are many that have lived for years on some modification of diet...just going back to the beginning SCD when there is a problem. Or increasing the glutamine, or both.
I think those on the SCD group are amazed that I am starting the diet as a way to eat LESS restricted.

It has 4.5 g per teaspoon, I usually take 1 teaspoon in iced tea between breakfast and lunch and another between lunch and supper.
It works best on an empty stomach, the dosage can be increased if needed.

Dinner: At the banquet (have no idea how the food was prepared, assume there was regular mayo in the slaw)
