Ear Mites!#@$%

Post by annie oakley »

Darn Darn Darn! Jasmine has had some furr missing off the tips of her ears. When I worked at the Humane society we had a couple dogs there with the same problem....and we treated them with yogurt and acidolphuls. It worked too....but this evening Jasimne is shaking her head. Clasic symtom of ear mites. I was going job hunting tomorrow, I was going to ride in with Mike and spend the day doing applications....but Now instead I think it better we go to the vet...I'm taking Buck too...they sleep together so the vet may as well treat Buck and Jasmine. Save me a trip next week when Buck comes down with it. Poor little Jazzy,,,shaking and pawing her ears. Also when I was at the humane society I had a friend that had a dog with IBS and I had her feed the dog yogurt with acidolphuls...the dog stabilized her IBS to only occassional flares. Love Oma

Well...we just got back From DR.Jimmy's and it is not ear mites...it's a bacteria that attacks the outer edge of the dogs ear. It will eat a hole in the dog's ear if left untreated. That's what Dr. Jimmy said...so Jasmine is on meds. I have to wash the area on both ears once a day and give her a pill twice a day. If she doesn't improve in a week...back we go. Love Oma

Poor puppy! Did Dr. Jimmy think Buck would turn up with it too, or is Jasmine just special?

Did you get to any interviews/application or was it just a vet day?

Dr Jimmy doesn't think it's contagious since she's had this awhile and he hasn't contracted it. He said I'll be honest...I ddon't know for sure but it doesn't appear to be contagious. Hope he's right. Her meds are making her sleepy. Love Oma
