Infections and MC symptoms?

Post by Greengoddess »

I noticed this week that a cold was preceded by a sudden worsening of general gut symptoms without any cause I could find. Has anyone else had this happen? Quite disheartening it has to be said.

My gut always gets worse when my nasal allergies flare up. I believe all mucous membranes are related...anything that causes nasal mucous also causes gut mucous, anything that dries one will also dry the other. That's why many allergy meds cause dry mouth and constipation.
Local pollen from privet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privet is giving me problems right now. I am taking Zyrtec in the morning, Benadryl at bedtime, Zantec at dinner, and if I still have problems Allegra in the afternoon.
Warning may be TMI: (by 'problems' I refer to mucous leakage from both ends).

You could be right about allergies. It isn't clear to me that it is an infection. There is a very unpleasant irritation in my nose on one side which the doc thinks might need antibiotics. A lot of sneezing too. Will try an anti histamine . What next I wonder.

Some language confusion which made me laugh. Privet is a toilet, but I see there are several meanings:-)

Lilia, privet meaning toilet must be related to the English word 'privy'.

Well, it's an oldfashioned word, I must admit. Must date from those days when people had outdoor toilets, and when they got indoor toilets, it was very "private".

My stomach is worse any time anything else is not right with me, a cold, a bad headache, etc...

Lilia & Martha,
I think these bushes are called 'privet hedge' so originally they were probably named for privacy. There are several across the street from me at the city park and we walk our dogs there early each morning. It has a walking trail so it is great exercise for all of us. Every morning that stuff was blooming I could just feel my throat tightening up. I've had a sore throat and coughing for a week or so despite all the allergy meds. Now it has finally finished blooming and things are back to normal (whatever that is)
