Research Shows Vitamin D Toxicity To Be Extremely Rare

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Contrary to all the claims by many doctors and various other health "experts" about how risky it is to take more than minimal amounts of supplemental vitamin D, a recent research article shows that vitamin D toxicity is very unlikely in most cases.
"The concept that vitamin D is one of the most toxic fat-soluble vitamins has been instilled in the psyche of health regulators and the medical community," he wrote.

But such concerns are unfounded, he argued.

"The evidence is clear that vitamin D toxicity is one of the rarest medical conditions and is typically due to intentional or inadvertent intake of extremely high doses of vitamin D (usually in the range of >50,000-100,000 IU/d for months to years)," Holick wrote.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

No surprise to me! How toxic could it be when only 15-20 minutes of sun exposure at noon can provide 10,000-20,000 IUs of vitamin D to the body?

Thanks for sharing.
