I'm ending my third week on the elimination diet...and with the exception of my sinuses giving me fits the last two day and the mucous drainage sparking additional bathroom trips, I had been relatively doing better only needing to use the restroom morning and night (that has been something I never thought possible).
I have decided to visit with my Dr. on Monday because I can't seem to move away from the WD when I do go. Regardless of how careful with food I have been it's not controllable at this time. I think I have somewhat of a routine with my food that even though I may start taking budesonide I can be honest with myself to let the steroid help me for a while without introducing a food that I know will hurt me.
So far I have been eating chicken, turkey, white rice (Sticky or jasmine), plain potato chips, cranberry bits, oatmeal w/lil brown sugar, coconut milk and tea or water. This diet is crazy, I toss in there a little steamed carrot once in a while or a cashew.
I think this diet is harder on my husband than me at times, lol. He's had to get creative in the kitchen too.
So sad...Hate this disease !!

Hi Erica,
Oatmeal is controversial for us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oat_sensitivity. GF chex might be an option.

Erica,
I agree with Brandy. It appears that most of us here are sensitive to oats. The avenin in oats is very similar to the gluten in wheat. It's just a weaker protein, so sometimes it's symptoms are more difficult to detect, and there are no known reliable tests for oats sensitivity.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
