Hello. I just turned 55 and I think my cycle is finally ending. It's been 80 days so I am keeping my fingers crossed! I am starting to get hot while I'm sleeping. Not really hot flashes where I wake up drenched, but sometimes I do have moisture in my cleavage. In the past I took Evening Primrose Oil and it seemed to help with keeping hot flashes at bay, but I read that can cause break through bleeding in menopause. Any suggestions as to what supplement is safe to take for hot flashes but won't cause a flare? Thanks!

I'm 47 and I've been cycle free for 16 months now...but with LC it was hard to tell just what I needed until last year when I had terrible hot sweats that kept me awake a lot during the night. In my instance I had to visit with my Dr. where I was placed on an estrogen bio hormone patch .75 (which I think I can start to back off that to the .5 pretty soon - which by the way is a really low weekly dose) and daily 100mg Progesterone bio hormone pill. So far everything ticks like a clock, no cycles, no depression, no PMS symptoms, and I should be able to wean off these pretty soon.
If you want to stay 100% bio hormone free I have noticed a product endorsed by Dr. Christiane Northrup called A-ma-ta, http://a-ma-ta.com/ that may work pretty well for those that don't need a stronger intervention to their symptoms. I have not tried the product. I would have my estrogen & Progesterone levels tested, all you may need is a little progesterone help, just enough so that it doesn't spark a cycle, but keeps the estrogen leveled and not over producing because progesterone drops off first making the cycles end, and estrogen extends for a while longer before it drops down but sometimes without progesterone symptoms of high estrogen can take place (head ache, mood swing, hot flashes, PMS..etc)
Good Luck!
